Because I'm a stubborn, opinionated bastard who just happens to be right.
I'm not worried about impeachment. We've bigger fish to fry than the puppet in the White House and the guy with his hand up his ass.
What I want to see is Congressional Investigations. I want to see the Dems pursuing the things the voters said they wanted last night. I want them to use public opinion of Congress to leverage change in the way business is done in Congress. I want to see some serious arm-twisting--I want to see the Dems force the Republicans into defensive mode, putting themselves and their own ambitions before the interests of their party.
We know they're selfish. And we can use that to our advantage. If we use our new powers to launch investigations into the corruption in Congress, we can bring a lot of it into the public eye. We can dig out the festering boils and lance them. We can clear the air and restore America's faith in government.
We can FORCE bi-partisanship, but not in pursuit of the neo-con agenda. We can use the investigations to get rid of the worst offenders, and leverage others into supporting bills that not only help all Americans, but make it that much harder for this sort of thing to happen again.
We can't afford to leave any of this to fester in the darkness.
THIS course of action, at this point, is SO much more important than impeaching a lame duck President. If we can blight the name of the Republican Party to the point that it becomes synonomous with corruption and cronyism, we can gain even more ground in the future, and use our netroots to pursue true progressive policies in the future.
We made our presence felt for real this time around, and we can continue to do so. But the first step is to show the whole Republican ideology for the sham that it is.
Welcome to the Big Leagues, folks. It's time to play hardball.
