Jane Hamsher: "... but this "triumph of the centrists" meme is a Rahm Emanuel ....
... spittle-soaked fantasy. The country ran from conservatives like a bad case of crotch lice and no amount of PR spin can re-write that."

As Pachacutec notes Rabid Lambs, Not Blue Dogs, Won the Election:

David "Bobo" Brooks once incoherently ranted that bloggers and grassroots activists were "rabid lambs." Rahm Emanuel ... and his minions are blanketing the establishment media to argue yesterday's election results were a victory for conservative "blue dog" Dems, and emphatically not representative of any growing progressive movement.

There's been some good rapid analysis and reporting on this today, and I want to share some links with people as a kind of one-stop clearing house for what's been done so far. Bottom line: rabid lambs chewed up the blue dogs and spit them out yesterday:

Firstly, Gov Dean, thank you once again for your brilliant, unrelenting leadership.

Secondly, everyone, if you read nothing else on what "We the People ..." accomplished, yesterday, I urge you to consume the following from Glenn Greenwald:

The Great Victory - crushing the developing myths

The outcome of this election -- even with the not-yet-fully-finalized Senate victories in Virginia and Montana -- is as resounding and clear as it gets. For exactly that reason, all sorts of devastated Bush followers and confused and desperate media mavens are busy spawning myths about what happened -- often, in the case of the mindless pundits, unwittingly, even unconsciously. Most Americans know exactly what happened here, but it is nonetheless vital that these myths be smashed from the start and the clear lessons of this election be safeguarded:

<clip>

Even Democratic control of both the House and Senate is no guarantee that the abuses will end. Quite the contrary. It is worth recalling that the central premise of this President is the Irrelevance of Congress and of everything else other than his will and his power. Takeover of the houses of Congress and the end of one-party rule is but one weapon to be used in the ongoing fight. It is not the end of the fight. Far, far from it.

But if nothing else, yesterday's results should galvanize everyone who recognizes the danger this country has been placed in by the radical, hate-mongering, deeply corrupt authoritarians who have been controlling (and destroying) it. That movement has been severely wounded, but not yet killed.

"We the People ..." have much unfinished business. Let us not allow anyone to obfuscate how we got to where we are today and how much more dedicated we each must be if we are going to halt the horror that is Bu$h and his gang of avarice-drenched mega-criminals.

1. I think these myths are being openly laughed at.
I'm relieved to see it, too.

3. Some are laughing, others are posting & pushing this meme here.
Didn't take long for the roosters to lay sole claim to the sunrise, it seems. Then again, the groundwork for this maneuver was being laid as early as the primaries, and it's par for the course for some in the party.

After all what else are they going to do? Accept their fellow Democrats with open arms and share power? Most would much rather bitch to depressed GOP friends about the "damn liberals" then spend even a moment reaching out to progressives. For some it's a self destructive hobby picked up from unfortunate sources. For others, it's a defining trait and an obsession. Either way, many prefer to spend time with moderate GOP types than associate with self professed liberals of any stripe. They just don't like liberals and never will. We should be familiar with this, we've seen it before from other quarters.
