North Dakota ain't as red as you think - Conrad (D) and Pomeroy (D) win.
All three congressional members from North Dakota are still Democrats, thanks to last night's reelection of Kent Conrad (senator) and Earl Pomeroy (house). Conrad won 70-30 over some person named Grotberg, who I had absolutely heard NOTHING about in the local media during the campaigns (yet I'm somehow amazed he was able to muster 30 percent of the vote). Pomeroy won 65-35 over Matt Mechtel (R), who I was getting REAL worried about, because Mechtel's name was being plastered all over the TV, radio and on a lot of lawn signs dotting my neighbourhood, which was weird, because the Fargo NDSU/Roosevelt neighbourhood and precinct is the most liberal in North Dakota.

North Dakota still retains its three Democratic congressmen:

Dorgan - Senate
Conrad - Senate
Pomeroy - House

And our Governor, John Hoeven, even though a Republican, is very moderate and centrist (He opposed the gay marriage ban referendum back in 2004).

Also in 2004, out 115,000 votes for Kerry were the most votes for a Democratic presidential candidate since Johnson in 1964.

So the Northern Hinterlands are not as red as you coastal dwellers think.:toast:

3. Some of Us Know That!
Perhaps it's because I'm originally a Missourian, but I know ND's little blue secret. Plus I've got some friends who live there!
