Why I love DU and know we are the good guys
So I was full of mormon guilt over my wicked deed - I run a nursing home and registered all my residents (who requested it) to vote and helped them fill out their absentee ballots - almost 150 out of 160 were straight ticket republican.

I posted my confession expecting mostly to get flamed - especially since so many of these folks are suffering from dementia.

I am overwhelmed by the people who replied all saying how much they respect ALL people's right to vote regardless of who they voted for.
This election was the first time I voted in my life - I became a US citizen too late to vote last time and was never able to vote in my own country since I was in various other countries during elections. I doubt very much if people at freeperville trailer park would have been ok with me delivering 150 democratic votes much less applaud it as a patriotic act as so many people here did.

I just love that this site is full of good people who stand on principle to do the right thing even when it hurts. As one person posted - you either believe in democracy or you don't. Maybe its the euphoria of Tuesdays results but for the first time in a while I remember that I believe in democracy.
