Lame Duck Congressional Session - what will they do?
Facing Democratic Control in January on one hand, and bush telling the lame-duckers to pass his agenda/confirm nominations on the other
what will they do?
bush made it clear he wants his stuff passed/confirmed double quick time before the Democratic Congress is in session. It's apparant he expects most if not all of his agenda to sustain damage if not totally torpedoed when the Dems take over.
bush has blown yet another opportunity to "unite". One lip talking about bi-partisanship, the other calls for partisanship.
Considering this election was a MANDATE on BUSH and the rubberstamping Republicans - will the Republicans continue through the remaining session to rubberstamp? Or will they seek bi-partisanship?
And what of the Dems? If the repubs continue to rubberstamp - will there be some sort of "retribution" when the Dems take over in Jan '07?
I would like to think the repubs would put people over politics and seek common ground - but I fear it will be extremely difficult for the repubs to throw away their rubberstamps.
