9. 67% Help. Sadly, the REAL question is whether a filibuster ...
... helps the nation! In good conscience, I don't know how any liberal patriot can even begin to think Alito's confirmation is any good for this country, except for the wealthiest 1% in the short term. Whether or not the ignorant and ill-informed people of this country favor this action by Democrats shouldn't keep any moral and ethical person from supporting it.

Do they not understand that it will help the dems no matter what?

Now that the Pubs have threatened the nuclear option --- if they do use it they lose in the eyes of the majority. The majority of Americans DON"T WANT the rules changed so it makes them look bad to the majority. If they don't use it, they look like wimps to their base.

Recent polls show Americans favor Dems for 2006 election, and this is after talks of the filibuster began. I think Americans are looking upon Dems to show some strength and courage.

So how can it possibly hurt to stand up for your principles?
