Time to think about Justice John Paul Stevens
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 05:48 PM by Heaven and Earth
the groundwork for the fight over his seat when he dies begins now. Whether there is a Democratic president appointing the replacement or not, there must be a unified Left and grassroots, and one common plan. There must be talking points, and a list of alternatives that we would accept, if its a republican appointee. These are the things I think we will need to have ready and waiting. Stevens is 86, He can't last forever.

1. that old bastard will last forever.
I agree with you though. I wouldn't be surprise to see his criminal son, Ben, appointed to his seat.

2. John Paul Stevens will not last forever
Ted Stevens, on the other hand, owing to his pact with Satan, might well last forever.

4. lol
They might both last forever. Let's hope Justice Stevens lasts until at least 2009. Saying that makes me feel creepy and political, but it's certainly true.

3. Isn't he the one Ann Coulter is planning on poisoning?
Can you imagine if, say, Al Franken or Randi Rhodes joked about poisoning Scalia? They would be in Guantanamo right now!

5. if Stevens leaves the Court, Bush will nominate someone . . .
just as bad as Alito, and likely worse . . . and that nomination will be approved no matter what we do . . . they have the votes, and we don't . . . and both parties have their corporate sponsors dictating, in large measure, how they vote (with a few exceptions, of course) . . .
