I look for correlation between those who followed the call not to filibuster and those who set the tone in the Party which lost us the 2000 and 2004 elections. The replacement of content with Republican-style media management and momentary pandering to whichever demographic appears en vogue this particular week. With a corequisite absence or slackness of platform content and solidification.

I find some partial correlations, such as the appearance of several of the Senate New Democrat Coalition, including founders Landrieu, Lieberman and Lincoln, in the roll of those who broke ranks with the Party's will (no, I didn't get that backwards) and voted for cloture. It is VITAL that in this time we do NOT engage in a WITCHHUNT (since that would produce the fragmentation and destruction from within which conservatives like to engender in their opponents), but instead establish in a hardnosed RATIONAL manner what our current situation is, a sitrep if you will, and then conclude based on that what course we are to follow. This is not a scenario in which a message from self-selected leaders to the effect "don't worry, we'll take care of it", or more bullshit emails exhorting us to "fight!!!!! (and send money)" will cut it. The leadership will demonstrate that it understands the situation this party and normal people in America find themselves in, or they will be replaced.

Those who think that groups are controlled by their leadership are thinking like conservatives, and like conservatives they will find sooner or later that they are wrong. I think our members of that tribe should be put in an accelerated class.

When I have appeared at rallies with American flags and a loud voice, counterdemonstrators like the Freepers have called out to me that I should reconsider my party affiliation. The fact that that line of thinking sees the light of day is to a significant extent clear commentary on the quality of leadership of our party. Think about it, and if you can't figure it out, I'll help you out.

Have a nice day.
