Bush says Vietnam should serve as lesson against early withdrawal?
On CNN this morning.

We know he doesn't believe in science, now it appears he doesn't believe in history either.

1. His own history is just a blur to him
and there is a lesson there too, about mental health or lack there of.

Awareness is not a common thing, evidently.

26. He's right. Had we exited sooner maybe 30,000 US lives would have been spared?

2. Why doesn't he stay there and fight the Vietnamese then?
Time to make up for all those months he spend drinking with James Bath

22. LOL! I snarfed my coffee all over my keyboard.
You owe me $29 for the keyboard, and possibly my copayment at the eye, ear, and coffee-in-the-nose specialist, too.

5. So, is he saying we should stay in Iraq for 10 years, til 58,000 soldiers are dead
and there's a final, desperate evacuation by helicopter off the roof of the embassy in Baghdad? Well, there's his exit strategy. Of course, his own exit strategy for Vietnam was just a bit different.

24. Good point. Maybe Laura has an idea for a war memorial, but it has to be bigger than 3000 names.

8. That's a message to his base not to rational people
His base believes that we could have one in vietnam if we had just stayed and fought a little longer.

10. Not only the idiocy of the statement to us Americans...
... but isn't he over there right now essentially saying "We should have stayed until we killed you all" to the people he is trying to open trade with?

18. He just made a complete ass of himself on a world stage
The election talking points meant solely for domestic consumption sound even dumber when spoken abroad.

They should have had Condi test this one out on the Sunday morning talk shows like they usually do.

21. I COULD NOT BELIEVE that he went out on a such a limb to illustrate
his own stupidity and ignorance on a world stage, particularly this one. Have his own advisors completely thrown in the towel at this point, and are just content to have him go out there without a net each day?? :wtf:

20. The media should be skewering him over that
statement. I would put it in the top 5 stupidest things he has uttered, real close to "Bring it on!"

Meanwhile some more voters that voted Republican are saying to themselves "What an asshat! He has ruined it for us!"
