KINGSTON - U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey still stands behind a bill calling for an investigation of the Bush administration that could lead to possible impeachment, despite the Ulster County Legislature's decision to hold off on a similar resolution and the assertion by House Speaker-in-waiting Nancy Pelosi that impeachment is off the table.Ulster County legislators last referred back to the Efficiency, Reform and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee a resolution to support an investigation of Bush's actions in the run-up to the Iraq war.
Legislator Gary Bischoff, chairman of the committee, said that although impeachment really is just a call for an investigation, the word scares people away.Bischoff, D-Saugerties, said Pelosi's recent statement had nothing to do with the county Legislature's decision and that the matter would be further discussed in light of the fact that the Democratic Party won control of Congress in last week's elections.
We have got to push the Dems's to have invstigation after nvestigation.
