This "new" Democratic Party is so impressive to me, so varied, I noticed so many really great newly-elected people I had never heard of before--Tim Walz, the new Minnesota Representative, Deval Patrick, the new Governor of Massachusetts, Claire McCaskill of Missouri--and many impressive people I had already known, even more impressive now, since elevated, such as new Senator Sherrod Brown. It is not one-dimensional anymore, all slick "D"LC corporate ad presentation, and refusal to criticize Republicans. I like all the variety; it feels like the entire American population again, as Democrats are the majority Party, and I do not take it as (as corporate Republican media pretends, and wishes), "conservatives taking over." They elected Nancy Pelosi unanimously, they are making a more consistent argument against Bush/Republican policies, and they know they will not be oppressed for long. I heard newly elected Senator Jim Webb of Virginia talking about "economic justice," and "a progressive tax system" that will help the middle class and poor, and I realized that the divisive use of the words "conservative," "liberal" (always bad to corporate media), "centrist," and etc., were all just meaningless code words and scare tactics, like "terror alerts." We belong everywhere again, and when we show ourselves to be honest and competant, we will really be back. Government, direct to the people.
