I don't know much about the issue but my hope is that new owners will be an un-bias group that will adhere to the truth.

Expect to see lots of PSA's on why Mitt will be a great President from this platform.

4. Lots of advantages to going private.....
Chief among them (for an organization of dubious ethics, anyway) is less public oversight. If you are a private company, there are no shareholders that can vote for board members. More control and less public scrutiny.

5. .
I'm not sure, but I heard that one of the founders of one company that participated in that deal was Mitt Rommney, a possible presidential candidate for the Repubs.

7. I hope they don't shut down more progressive talk stations
Edited on Sun Nov-19-06 01:07 PM by grateful581
Clear Channel is owner of quite a few progressive radio talk stations. CC already announced that Madison's http://www.madisonmix.com/main.html "> The Mic 92.1 is going off the air.

I don't think that this had to do with the merger. I just hope it's not a sign of things to come.

13. Nothing, one way or the other
Clear Channel is still a large communications corporation that owns a huge percentage of American radio stations. It centralizes the operation without concern for local issues or diversity of opinion.

This is something that needs to be broken up.

14. I wouldn't hold out much hope for that.
The group that purchased it is closely tied to Mitt Romney. Sounds like Romney is looking to Silvio Berlusconi's control of media in Italy as his model for aspiring to the presidency of this country.
