Here's Chris Matthews of "Hardball" on Judge Alito's wife and how she'll be presented during tonight's State of the Union: "Won't they say something upbeat ... 'isn't she a great woman, didn't she stand up' -- and then they'll put the camera right on Ted Kennedy and show how he was the guy that molested her basically -- that's the way they'll play it."

See, if he'd accused Kennedy of running a "plantation," that would have crossed the line.

Each day brings with it a new dawn and Chris Matthews keeps saying things that boggle the mind. While predicting how the SOTU would be played out, Chris used this analogy to describe how the Republicans would use Alito's wife tomorrow night and be on "top of their game":

There's no crying in politics.

Ted Kennedy didn't molest anyone. And I'm not completely sure that the whole incident wasn't staged so that it could be played up in the media by persons such as yourself. It was all just too... theatrical for my tastes.

Your partisan roots are showing sir. Time for a touchup.

By the way, while I have you on the line, just for the record, no, I did not fall in love with Captain Codpiece in his little flightsuit. He just looked like a toy soldier to me.

This is so inexcusable how the petulant Right wingers attack anyone who is respected and revered, like Senator Kennedy.

They don't want to have to work at earning respect, they just want to bring everyone else down who IS respected.

It was cynical, but if what he describes happens, it makes it all look so set up. He didn't do George or Mrs. Alito any great favor with that comment. Maybe Keith Olbermann could juxtapose the two scenes on his show, Tweety's comment and "poor" Mrs. Alito. :eyes:
