WASHINGTON - President Bush, pushing to take charge of the election-year agenda, said Tuesday that "America is addicted to oil" and must break its dependence on foreign suppliers in unstable parts of the world.

In his State of the Union address, Bush also renewed his commitment to the central pledge of his inaugural address. "Our nation is committed to an historic, long-term goal — we seek the end of tyranny in our world," he said. "The future security of America depends on it."

Addicted to oil? Do ya think so, Oil Man? :puke:

9. So let's invade Iran...
So they can close off the Straits of Hormuz and cut off our foreign oil.

For our own good.

An intervention.

10. Unlikely as it sounds, this seems to be a new repuke meme
Our governor Linda Lingle (R-On Karen Hughes' Christmas Card List) harped on this same point in her recent "State of the State" address.

http://starbulletin.com/2006/01/23/news/sos.html

Earlier this month, I proposed a sweeping set of proposals designed to move us from our decades-long overdependence on imported oil toward energy self-sufficiency based on renewable resources...

Weaning ourselves from oil won't be cost-free, but we must do so if we want our economy to survive the next time the price of a barrel of oil increases by 50%.

I am proposing a bold new initiative to make Hawai'i the center of America's development of hydrogen as an alternate fuel source....

We also need to encourage the development of biofuels as a substitute for oil -- fuels through farming.

What's up with this? You know they have an ulterior motive somewhere. Invade and occupy all the sources so they're no longer "in unstable parts of the world"? :scared:

What a joke. The man is a drug dealer if he believes that, because he had the option to find alternative energy sources and never spent any time on it at all.

14. HEAT
It isn't just about gasoline. My heating costs are ASTRONOMICAL. This has also been a MILD winter.

Forget, solar. That is NOT an option with SNOW. I am also old enough to remember when we had a coal stove for heating as a kid. The entire house always had a layer of back soot all over everything. If it was on the furniture, you can bet it was in our lungs too. Does he want that too? For those who cannot afford the sky high costs of oil or natural gas? He probably does. If you aren't RICH, you are dispensable.

27. Reagan also ended Carter's CAFE standards in 1985
If Reagan hadn't done that, we would have achieved complete energy independence in 1991.
Oil company profits come before national security.

If you can't get where power and debt and oil addiction will take you, you go to the places booze and drugs and sex addiction take you.

32. Oh, great...
...just great.

Well, Georgie'll admit that he knows a few things about addiction. He won't elaborate on most of the substance abuse, but he will gladly tell anyone that he turned his life around...

...by turning to Jesus.

Is he about to try and coax us into national religion now?

This sounds like it has the potential to get even creepier.
