My take on poppy's breakdown or whatever it was.
The man is scared to death that the truth of his many quesionable deeds might just come out now that little boots has shown his ass to the world. Eyebrows have been raised and questions are being asked about the many happenings in his past, JFK assassination, ronny's shooting etc etc. It's a scrutiny he can't pass and he knows that. He's gotten by so far because of his keeping a low profile, not rocking the boat if you will. He's been nervous as a cat ever since the neo-cons selected his idiot son, georgie boy. poppy had jebbie in line for the presidency not little boots, after all he does know jr all too well. Yes poppy cried and it was a nervous cry, not a sorrowful or a joyful cry but a scared cry. A cry like a man might have when he has all this frustration built up inside because he knows that things will be different now, he knows we know and with what is known the rest will surely come out, yes poppy had a cry alright. just saying

28. They said on Keith O tonight that this country has "Bush fatigue".
Edited on Tue Dec-05-06 09:45 PM by 8_year_nightmare
It was also said that Jeb's at the end of the line, politically, but we've come to know the Bushes as pretty nervy, so who knows.

As for Poppy's crying today, it seemed to reveal a combination of fear (of how his son's presidency will end & possibly about future legal troubles); embarrassment of his son's mismanagement, thickheadedness, & bad manners; & lots of frustration over not being able to save his son from this mess of a presidency, unlike every other situation his son has screwed up.

46. I've been using that line about Bush fatigue as well, especially
since we've had to put up with him in Texas since 1994 (I think it was). The BFEE is over for this generation, and maybe for one or two more, IMO.

I think Poppy is getting emotional because he has some sort of brain disorder. I don't know what, but he is overly emotional. I wonder if he has tumors or dementia or if the docs have given him a time frame for when he's going to go. But he knows Dumbya has screwed up it all up and badly and there is no easy fix and thousands more will die over his ego and stupidity.

For whatever reason Poppy literally broke down, it shows that the Bushes are at the end of their rope with worry.

90. The strain of listening to the irrational words from Babs
all these years, listening to how beautiful all their minds are, and then to have to suck up the fact that your son is nominated for Worst President Ever has got to have an effect. No, don't think it's a brain tumor.

You are apparently a very compassionate person, I can't find any compassion for this family. Have they Ever paid a personal electric bill? Yet Poppy breaks down over his version of how upstanding Jeb was with his "94" loss?

81. That comment about "Babs bawling him out" was very insightful...I thought to myself as I watched Pop
breakdown over Jeb that even though it was because of his deep knowledge of it being the end of Jeb's political career AND the Bush Dynasty after all is further destroyed and revealed by George W.in the coming two years, but that I pictured Babs literally hitting Pops over the head with something as he sits there sobbing. I also pictured that the cold cruel bitch that she is did that to all of them, George W. in particular and what shaped the boy that became George W. Bush.

I shudder at that thought....I see a boy who if he cried was bawled out and hit by an ice bitch....and look what we all ended up with.... :scared:

I'm not sure we fully understand Poppy's breakdown yet but it's certainly an eye-opener. I agree this was not just a simple display of emotion...this man is fighting some powerful demons. Veteran politicians do not have such "floodgates" moments unless there's a big pressure build-up behind the dam. It's cracking.

22. I think he was crying because Jeb will never be president
Remember, Jeb is his favorite son, not W. He didn't want W to run for Texas Governor in the first place and certainly not for president. He wanted Jeb to be his successor, and when Jeb lost the 1994 Florida Governor election (that's what Bush senior was talking about when he started crying), W got ahead and could later run for president. W then totally destroyed the Bush family's reputation (did they ever have one? lol), and not only can Jeb never run for president now, but also his dad will always be remembered as loser W's dad in history. I feel almost sorry for him, but only almost ;-)

39. Disagree...
I think the old man does love his kids and he's not worried that much about himself. I think he's upset for a couple of reasons.

1)He's old. Emotions are scattered and he doesn't have the control like he used to.
2)He's worried. The youngest boy will soon be dealing with investigation after investigation. Impeachment is in the wind.

Overall it's this:

The Bush family name will be shamed forever with a bush son being impeached and the huge possibility of being forced from office. Now that's a stain that ain't ever gonna wash off.

Just what I think :)

49. George senior,
--head of the BFEE --collapsed in uncontrollable crocodile tears while giving a speech about Jebbie's noble services to humanity. Media spins it as simply a father's concern about his son who will lose a chance at the Residency. Reading more into it, this could also indicate the patriarch's total devastation at The Fall of the House of Boosh.

This footage is worth seeing in full...

51. It seemed like the cry my grandfather used to get when he was
older and talked about his family. Pretty normal for a man of advanced age talking about family I think.

56. No way could your grandfather been as scary as GHWB...your grandfather sounds kind.
GHWB orchestrated most of this empire by family, after learning at the knee of Prescott (doing business with Nazis) Bush. gwb's grandpa was a Nazi collaborator.

I think your grandfather was a caring person, who remembered loved ones with deep affection and love. I do not see that quality in GHWB.

58. my take on "the breakdown": it could be a physical condition and/or treatment
Edited on Wed Dec-06-06 12:34 AM by Raster
of said condition. There's also other possibilities. My experience is that as we get older, our life--in all is facets--comes more into focus as we ponder our own existence and our own mortality. I think it's coming into focus that not only will the next two years be very unkind to his firstborn failure (as he has already speculated), but will probably remain unkind for the rest of his life. There is a very good possibility the rest of the world will forever look upon his son as a war criminal. Add to the mix that now favored son--the smart one and the one that insiders say was groomed for 1600--will never be POTUS. And further add to the recipe that now his son's actions and, most importantly his, will be subject to major scrutiny. Imagine a Democrat-controlled Congress FULLY AND CAREFULLY investigating 9/11. Imagine a Democrat-controlled Congress FULLY investigating the lead up to the Iraq war. Imagine a Democrat-controlled Congress INVESTIGATING the 2004 (s)election.

I lived in Texas in the early '90's. I watched the ascendancy of george w. bush from firstborn failure and village idiot through the Texas Rangers, the Texas Governorship and finally the pResidency. I assure you, there's skeletons in the closet and meat on all the bones.

The bush* family considers themselves true American aristocrats. The father and sons were to cement the bush* dynasty in the annals of history. They're going down in history all right, and not the way intended. Can you imagine the shame and embarrassment to have to--yet again--send in Baker to bail out the boy. And this time it's just not a drug violation or a missed flight exam. This time the entire world is witness to w's ineptitude and yet another glimpse at the family's dirty laundry. And the old man ain't stupid. All the pull, all the chits, all the favors and all the hired guns won't be able to shut down what is coming.

63. Anybody catch Scarb Country?
I saw just a bit. They were canonizing 41 AND Jeb, and talking about Jeb as VP on McCain's ticket.

My first take after seeing the clip was that 41 was crying because 43 messed up Jeb's political future, but when I saw that bit on SC I became cynical, suspicious and scared. Could those tears be an act to stir up support for 41 ("good dad") and Jeb ("good son")?

Edited on Wed Dec-06-06 08:20 AM by Bridget Burke
Is John Hinkley Jr still getting "leaves" to visit his family?

Although a "lone gunman" of a more distinct ethnicity might be a better bet.

That's exactly what I thought the first time I saw the 'clip'.

He's trying to get sympathy for both himself and "Jebby" in the

soon-to-be/future run of "good son" for PRESIDENT!!!

95. I thought the same thing
41 is just out there stirring up a pity party and getting publicity for Jebby. After all, he is the "good son". :sarcasm:
(Note: there is NOTHING "good" about that family.)

A lead into Jeb 08. 41 is the patriarch of this sick family, and is very shrewd & cunning; he is capable of the lowest of the lows.

68. As I recall this old NAZI Wasp
and yes there WERE NAZIS involved. I remember the Pictures of them being OUTED by the Media in the Paper and they all BOWED OUT and went AWAY from the Bush cabal.. it was common knowledge way back.

Anyway, this old Nazi Wasp was on so many mind altering DRUGS even during his presidency that one writer said in an article that Bush Senior was "seeing Giant Methodist Spiders.."

THAT is how fucked up HE WAS THEN, imagine the drugs he's on NOW, and his SON, and that son's WIFE (Laura the Car Killer)..

The whole fucking FAMILY is COOKED on DRUGS, either Booze or Xanax or Halcyon (sp?) which Bush Senior ate like candy.. even Powell was talking about everyone being on AMBIEN leading up to the Invasion of Iraq..

I really do believe that this is the First ALL DRUGGED administration, and even if they don't admit to it, they are cooked to the gills, like Cheney was all Boozed up when he shot that guy, mistaking him for a QUAIL.

The tear are based on GUILT, but not just that, as the OP says, they are actually based on FRIGHT, they are scared shitless of being CAUGHT, and that's ALL they Feel, because every last one of them is either a Narcissist or a Sociopathic Psychopath..

All the way down to Jeb's loser daughter who wrote faked prescriptions, and his wife the shop lifter. George the cousin, sold to us as the STUD a few years back was caught STALKING, even breaking and entering..

These guys make the Kennedys look like Altar boys when it comes to mind altering substances, and having been around a lot of folks like that in the 60's and 70's I can spot them a mile away. The real tip off is NO RESPONSIBILITY for their ACTIONS.

First and foremost the LAW of the DRUGGIE. :)

72. Oh, to be a fly on the wall of the bushes* compound
Their shitting bricks right now and its for a whole new reason, not the reasons leading up to the 'cry' but the fallout from the display of emotion that the old man tried to stiffle but was unable too. Their goose is cooked and they know that and they know that we know that too now, emotions have a way of showing ones true colors, they're like a window to their souls, in this case if they even have souls. I'll bet big georgie is wishing he would have taken little georgie fishing long ago. About right now

over GHWB's problems, but I guess I tend to have alot more respect for him since he fought in WWII and held alot of jobs supposedly "serving" the public. Dumbya has been a johnny-come-lately, and has a history of failures. It was all too predictable.

But I do feel a twinge of pity for the old man. I guess since my own father, a WWII NAvy vet is 80 and getting up there, it touches me more, and I really do think he knows he is looking at the end of his understanding of his life. I think he must have had something diagnosed recently, a brain disorder.

When I saw the clip on KO last night, I sat there and laughed out loud.

I have no sympathy for anyone that's a part of that family or for anyone who supports or supported what they've done to my beloved country.

I hope him and all his evil spawn literally rot....

We don't like to mention what has happened to a country that really never threatened us. I do feel so much shame and pain, and a bit tipsy. No excuses for this family, they cared nothing about the consequences of allowing Jr. to take us to war.

My take is that instead of being worried that all his dirty deeds since JFK would be exposed, Poppy was crying because he's a spoiled brat who isn't getting what he wants: love, appreciation and adoration for his family.
