"Where's my drink?"
Milbank on Countdown just now. Says Lawrence Eagleberger was asked what Smirky's reaction to ISG was. Eagleberger said he said "Where's my drink?"

Milbank quickly laughed and said we could assume that the President (cough, cough) had not fallen off the wagon.

Discuss.

1. Well now, that's interesting!
I will just bet that is the truth!

My brother was an alcoholic. He had nothing left to lose late in his life and he had that attitude. He just didn't care. It just didn't matter to him. And at that point he didn't need to be rehabilitated.

It is the same with shrub. He has nothing left of his life to mean anything. My god, what a waste.

8. I am sorry to hear that. I lost my brother in June, 2004
It was his 3rd stroke. His doctor predicted another stroke after his 2, because he continued to smoke.

I know there are some things you can't prevent, but I tried with my brother. I still feel the shame of defeat: I didn't get him to the help he needed. Nothing I did worked because I literally couldn't get him there myself.

I hope you have a better outcome than I had. It was a hard thing for me to accept...

10. You shouldn't feel guilty because of that. There are a lot
of people you can't save because they prefer to live their lives otherwise. They do have the final choice. It's not your fault.

12. Do NOT feel guilty about your brother--you can't recover for someone else.
They have to want sobriety, and work towards it themselves. I had an alcoholic friend I used to damn near drag to AA meetings. For a while, he attended meetings on his own, but couldn't seem to stay sober for more than about a month and a half. Always went back to drinking, as at that point it was the life he knew best. A real downward spiral. He died in Dec. '01, an alcohol-related death. I miss him to this day, and think "what a waste." It's hard not to feel I could have done more, but then I remember that he didn't really want sobriety all that much.

2. (I saw that.) Dear Mr. Eagleberger: It's the moral cowardice, stupid!
Edited on Thu Dec-07-06 08:27 PM by TahitiNut
There's a REASON Smirk bathed his malfunctioning brain in booze: He's a fucking COWARD! This is a sperm lottery 'winner' who has never taken reponsibility for anything he's ever run from! This is a bastard who's been brought up to regard himself entitled to the credits of blood, sweat, and tears shed by OTHERS!

(Sheesh!) It's not "Where's my drink?" It's "Where can I hide and who can I blame?"
The Fecal Fuhrer had his anger all primed and ready to launch ... finger pointing and high dudgeon all elevated. Only his eyes betrayed the discomfort of only having a podium for cover.

9. Also, this happened in the morning according to Randi.
So he's doing the "hair of the dog" in the morning before he finally goes to bed shit faced. I have known all along that the man is on "full glow" most of the time, and it has been from the beginning of his administration. This is no dry drunk but a very wet one.

11. Olberman referred to the "12-steps", too.
Edited on Thu Dec-07-06 08:54 PM by DemoTex
Milbank answered something about the 12-steps of that program vs. the 5 steps of grief. Bu$h, to be sure, knows little of either.

13. Any psychoanalysts who deal with alcoholism care to
comment on the danger of a pResident with the power of W in this stage of the disease? Just HOW dangerous is this man? What types of behaviors can be expected in the future? What types of action could cause this man to go into further mental crisis? What would the best way to remove him from power to protect the world?
