For This Brief Moment In Time, I Don't Care About Iraq; About The ISG; About Gates; About Bush.
For this brief moment in time, I have pushed pause on all other thought processes and passions going through my mind.

Because for this brief moment in time, I am paying respect with a brief moment of silence to all of our brave patriots that perished on December 7th, 1941.

May God bless them for their sacrifice. May God bless their families. May God bless those who survived.

Thank you to all of them and to all of you who have served honorably.

May they rest in peace.

3. The Hazards Of Skimming...
Only catching December 7th... and having just read about today's casualties... the U.S. did report 11 for one day, today.

Certainly Pearl Harbor involved quite a few more than that; they were missed and it was and remains a strong in the nation's memory... "a day that will live in infamy...".

4. The Iraqis must be thinking the same
They did nothing to America but we lobbed shock and awe on them. I wonder when they will label a day that the U.S. attacked them with no reason, and stayed long enough to kill thousands of them.

Will they call it "The shock and awe day of infamy" by the Bush government?

5. You Have A Gazillion Threads To Post In About Iraq. A Bit More Respect For Those That Perished 65
years ago would've been a bit more warranted.

I'm quite disappointed that you chose to undermine the premise of this thread and in my opinion disrespect the lives of those lost so many years ago, by feeling the need to ignore them completely just to get your Iraq shot in.

You have a plethora of other threads you could've chosen to post your Iraq sentiments in. There was no honorable need whatsoever to have to do it here.

I know you have the right to post wherever you want whenever you want. But I found your sentiments expressed in this one to be in bad taste.

This was to honor those that lost their lives on that fateful day 65 years ago. You ignored them all completely. They deserved far better.

7. My high school English teacher was a Pearl Harbor Vet who died
Edited on Thu Dec-07-06 11:57 PM by spacelady
this past year. He was a crusty old salt & he would take a day each year to talk about it to his classes & take questions. He went to every reunion except this one. His name was Ken Hill. He was my favorite teacher & when he passed I wrote a LTTE about him because he was a great influence on my life. He was a great man.

A Pearl Harbor Veteran and a Legendary Teacher has died.
Ken Hill was the best teacher I ever had in High School. He was feared for decades as the meanest teacher ever, who called students names and rarely gave an "A". When I had the chance, I eagerly signed up for his class, because I had to see for myself who this character was that could strike such fear in the hearts of the biggest, best and brightest students of my small Nebraska high school.
Mr. Hill lived up to every bit of the hype; but after a while I figured out he wasn't mean, he just had high standards. As for the names, well they were unique and they fit and they were his way of expressing his exasperation at us for being so shallow and uncaring about learning. Once a year, he would talk about Pearl Harbor, year after year, his classes would sit in rapt attention to hear these eyewitness stories from this crusty old salt of events and acts of heroism that were hard to believe, but that we knew were true.
I learned more from Mr. Hill in a semester than I learned from years of living-he was just that good. I salute you, Mr. Hill.

On edit: My LTTE & Tribute
