so new he hadn't memorized it all yet and had note paper on a table. If he comes to your area, I highly recommend the show.

Not too political, but current - still the same old biting commentary one expects from him. He started off telling 3 jokes and prefaced them by warning that they were offensive. After each one he derided the folks in the audience that were moaning saying "Fuck you folks that are moaning, you'll be the ones on your cell phones in the parking lot telling these before midnight"!

Example;

How does the Ozark mountain redneck girl know her mom is on her period?
Her brothers dick tastes funny!

Yes...sure it's sick but he warns you first that it is going to be sick and then goes into how it makes you think about the family dynamic going on behind the joke.

He did a bit about swearing on the bible in court. "What the fuck is up with having to raise your right hand and putting your left on the bible? What if you raised your left and put the right one on the bible? Would God say "no, you got it wrong, try again". What if the bible is upside down? Or backward? What if the only bible available is a Chinese bible? What if it is in Braille? What if the bible is upside down, backward, in Chinese braille and is missing pages? does it still count?"

He was on form, no doubt. He did look old, however and admitted he recently turned 69 years old.

May he keep doing what he is doing as long as he is happy carrying this mortal coil.

Go see him if you can.

3. Saw him at The Orpheum Theather in Omaha circa 1980. The fact that
I can remember that is testament to his genius - Glad to hear he is still in good form.

4. makes me want to see Dogma again...
a bit OT as Carlin isn't a big part in it, but I just enjoyed that movie so much for so many reasons.

5. He set a standard...That's for sure.
Wasn't he the first to do the fake news report thing? Then came Chevy Chase on Saturday Night Live. Many followed. Of course, Jon Stewart has taken it to a whole new level...

6. I saw him two years ago live, here in Vegas
Similar experience. The only part he had memorized was the rip-roaring intro. At the time it was new material, though it was also (now) his last HBO special. He said it was fifty years of stand-up, and the funniest thing I have ever seen.

As far as him looking old, when I saw him last, he was just out of rehab, and doing a lot of jokes on death and suicide. They say that comedians are just troubled people, folks in pain and trying to express that pain in a positive manner, and that routine, funny as it was, proved it that me. It was just so ... desperate in its humor,a nd often profound.

He lives in Vegas now, and plays here a lot. But the place he played at, the Stardust (the oldest casino left on the Strip), just closed down to make way for a five BILLION dollar project, so I don't know where he'll go to make money/practice/humor himself/test new material.

He's a true American genius.

when we were in high school, and listened to them all the time. LOVE CARLIN!
