1. God bless the medics.
If not for them, I would surely not be typing this right now.

Thanks for posting this, Monkeyman.

Damn, now it is us who are getting old and dying.

And it seems like only yesterday....

2. that's especially meaningful coming from someone who can say that
I've never had my life saved by a medic, so my words don't have the same oomph yours do.

But I've always thought medics had a special mission. Working in an emergency department is stressful enough, but to do that job under fire, in the line of fire with their own lives at risk, with bullets and bombs all around... I am just in awe.

5. I could have never had the selfless bravery those guys had.
To respond to a bad deal and do what they had to do without fighting back, but just dealing with it.

The same guy saved me (in a bad spot) twice.

And to this day, he is my best friend.

And that was 35 years ago.

We talk or email every day.

Rock it, Jimbo...

3. Thats how Randy and I met
Firefight I got hit bad. Not to go into details but he held part of me instead till the chopper came. The nurses took care of this Vet then. If it was not for all of them. I would of met St. Peter that day.

6. It's weird how things work, isn't it?
Did I ever tell you about the red-haired nurse (this is not a sex link)?

Jeezus, Buddy.
We should each go outside and howl at the Moon.
Every night.

I walk out on my veranda every morning and remind myself to not take it for granted.
Not ever.
