McCain a Maverick? I don't think so.
He may be just as Conservative as the rest of the Republican Party.

Definitely not a maverick on the War

* McCain has supported the Administration and the Status Quo when it has come to the war in Iraq. McCain supported the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the U.S. decision to overthrow the Saddam Hussein regime, of a continued, and increased, military presence, and most of Bush's foreign policies. (1)

Supported Arizona's failed marriage amendment

* Pushed by the media as a moderate Republican when it comes to issues such as gay marriage, his support of an attempt to ban it can be seen as evidence otherwise (2)

Supports the teaching of intelligent design

* McCain believes that "all points of view" should be taught, including if one of those points of view is untestable pseudoscience. (3)

American Conservative Union likes him

* One of the most influential Conservative organizations in America has given him a lifetime rating of 83%.

5. McCain occasionally slips away from kissing Bush's ass to lay a wet one
on Falwell's backside. Bush believes that he has exclusive rights to McCain's affections.

In that sense, McCain's a maverick.

8. McCain is a dyed in wool conservative lackey....
don't let anyone tell you otherwise. That amendment he supported in Arizona would have done a lot more than illegalize same-sex marriage, it would also have denied any key benefits to gays whatsoever. That is why such an extreme measure failed in conservative Arizona. He has no moderate principles, tows the party line, kisses up to dubya, and uses the same divisive issues that got dubya elected. Sounds like a rethuglican stalwart to me. Fuck 'em
