Rep. John Shimkus chose to hide the Foley e-mails from the page board's Democratic members.

Of course, here Royal Alexander, a staff member in Representative Rodney Alexander's office, says that the Democrats were trying to make something out of these e-mails:

Anyone smell a cover-up?

1. Shimkus kind of admits, that he covered it up because...
the other members would have made a big deal out of it. Why shouldn't they have, I mean it was only a page being hit by a Congressman. What's so important or outrageous about that?

4. If you have to decide between bad and worse, ALWAYS CHOOSE BAD
Rep. Shimkus' problem seems to be that he couldn't tell which choice was bad and which was worse: Risk public humiliation of the Repubs by informing the Dems, or protect the welfare of the pages by taking action that would put Foley out of business?

5. Well, Republicans never use sex for political gain.
Oh wait, they spent $70MM of taxpayer money conducting an inquisition on a sitting President, based on adult consensual sex. Never mind.

2. And I've also seen how anyone in Speaker Hastert's office...
seems to have forgotten all about whether they told the Speaker of the Foley matter, or whether they were even told themselves.

I think there may be some perjury prosecutions out of this for that.

What were these Democrats smoking? Covering up a child sexual predator, because the other side might make something of it, is totally fucked up. Shimkus wouldn't have done that with his own children.
