I hope my 1st grader doesn't get kicked out of school because of
Mommy!

My son had to write sentences with his spelling words. He couldn't come up with one for the word "mass". So I helped him out with-- Iraq had no weapons of mass distruction.

We live in San Diego by the naval base, 95% of the students have parents in the navy.

2. You got an excuse
Remember when W made a joke of it? "Nope, no weapons of mass destruction over here" - You're son is just quoting W.

W's "esteem" within the military community is a myth.

4. I'm an elementary teacher, and if one of my students turned in that sentence...
I would definitely get a good chuckle out of it. Well done, Mom!

My kids wrote New Years cards to send to the soldiers in Iraq. My favorite was:
Dear Soldier,
Thanks for trying to get us out of this mess.

He then wished him/her a Happy New Year and signed his name.

7. With All Due Respect, Politics Probably Shouldn't Be Injected Into A 1st Grader's Homework.
At least that's my opinion on it anyway.

10. That's not politics, that's FACTS
Now if he had written, "Bush lied about the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq in order to lead us into an illegal war that has now killed more Americans than 9/11", well you might have an argument about interjecting politics, but just stating that no WMD were found is a fact, not a political talking point.

8. They're in the Navy, but are they Republicans?
I was struck by how the military has occasionally made it known they're not completely down with the Bush agenda. What are those magazines called? Army Times, Navy Times and ... is it Marine or Air Force? They did a joint editorial a little while back iirc making it pretty clear.

9. Haha, I have a similar anecdote:
On 9/11 this year, my son had to write 10 facts about it. He came up with most on his own, imcluding the number of people who died, which tower was hit first, when the World Trade Center was built, etc., but asked for help with one more.

I suggested that #10 be: "Bush knew."

He chickened out, because his teacher is a Bush guy and he probably would have caused a stir, but it would've been great.

Yours was good too! And it's factual, so who's to argue?
