WTF?!?! A HAND GRENADE is now a Weapon of Mass Destruction?!?!?
I admit I haven't read anything of he case of that "terrorist" in Chicago who wanted to bomb or blow up some mall or something.

I just came across an article on it and the charges against the guy made my fucking jaw drop!

Federal officials said Shareef planned to set off four hand grenades in garbage cans at the CherryVale shopping mall in Rockford, about 90 miles northwest of Chicago.

He's charged with one count of attempting to damage or destroy a building by fire or explosion and one count of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction.

1. Oh you noticed that too?
I nearly spit my coffee this morning reading the Globe trying to figure out what really went down with this latest al qaeda plot to destroy america. I seriously wonder what the legal definition of 'WMD' is. Any device that can injure more than one person? What horseshit. This terrst had no weapons, no bombs, nothing other than a big mouth.

On the other hand, if you just happen to be a right-wing christian nutball, you get charged with "weapons" violations.

Check out this list from the Southern Poverty Law Center (and send them a few $$ while you're reading). See if you can count how many of these christian white guys got charged with using a WMD.

6. I think this is a story for KO. He needs to cover this and juxtapose it
with the story of Demetrius Crocker of Tennessee. We have, on the one hand, a Muslim convert who tried to buy 4 hand grenades by trading for stereo speakers, and it makes national news and they continue to remind us of how much we have to fear from "those kind of people". On the other hand, we have a story that got absolutely no national media attention, about a far right racist who thought he was receiving Serin gas and C-4 explosives and wanted to blow up Congress. Why does one get the attention and not the other? Could it be because the media wants to push the Islamophobic agenda? Now that can't possibly be right, could it?
