The War On Christmas Hits Seattle Tacoma Airport..

For more than 25 years the airport has celebrated the holidays with Christmas trees over it's entrances. But overnight the Port of Seattle ordered all 15 trees removed.

"I think it's very unfortunate. Why lose the Christmas spirit? Christmas is for kids," said passenger Lisa Jones.

The Port allowed 'holiday' decorations to remain but decided to take down all the 'Christmas' trees after a Jewish religious leader complained they were offensive.

http://www.komotv.com/news/4873941.html

Frankly all you DUers.....I say screw the Jewish religious leader......frankly I find it offensive that many of our television/movies shows lean towards a catholic or jewish persuasion when they want to imply a character religious affiliation...jeez how many Adam Sandler movies do that?????

As for the eight foot menorahs the tress's were allthe height of 6 ft each if they want balance then a six foot menorah is appropriate....

Anyhow I'm done.......Merry Christmas

1. Over Reaction
The Christmas tree itself is a hold over from a pagan celebration, or so I've been told. It has no relationship with the birth of Christ. The church allowed it to become part of the Christmas Pageant to placate the pagan converts.

Political Correctness is being taken too far. Go to church and celebrate you religion. Celebrate the spirit of the holidays with your fellow man.

7. I dont Beleive....

The trees were being placed there to imply endorsement of a certain religion....they were simply placed as a mainstream symbol of the holiday season....I think was the jewish rabbi and his attorney that has had the lack of tolerance and comprimise here.

I wonder how the wingnuts are going to cast this since the aggressor is their Jewish buds, and we all know we have to protect Israel at all cost, and they defiantly don't believe in J.C.

during the holiday season. We said 'Merry Christmas' and 'Happy Hannukah' to each other and nobody got their panties in a bunch. What the hell happened?

christmas. not whether there is a tree, or something else but for two years now children hearing about a war on christmas and it is escalating thru out all of christmas anymore. forget the airport. forget all the particulars in this case. it is more adults acting like children, giving the poorest example how to live together, behave. instead we have to have a stupid war on christmas. and this is the example we give our children to live by. then we expect them to figure out how to get along with each other. and no, mondo joe, i have not been drinking.

thank the marketers

What is going on is that people have been saying, sure put all them christam decorations, but add others, or just don't for any

It is that either political correctness or separation of church and state.

My view is... I don't give a flying you know what? We mostly don't participate in this madenss anyway

Edited on Sat Dec-09-06 11:57 PM by impeachdubya
(emphasis added)

"i will hang the ornaments on a tree at the airport myself thank you, if i chose to do so, and that will be my matter within my country...

i would not expect Israeli women to stop making Sabbath preparations simply if i were in town"

Do you have some reason to believe that the Rabbi who "complained" about the trees (asked that a menorah be added, actually) is any less of an American than you are?

Is he "simply in town", whereas this is YOUR country and not his?

I think you need to explain what you're trying to say, here.

America is not A "CHRISTIAN" Nation.

If you want to know why people may over-react to Xmas trees on public property, maybe you should look in the mirror and examine your own attitudes.

14. The trees were insurance against the possibility that the Sun God
might keep making the days shorter until there was no more light. The trees would be ignited one at a time so that travelers could see to get from the Seattle airport to the nearest Starbucks. Now they will have to "have faith" in something like fresh batteries in case daylight is coming to an end.

Political correctness has gone too far when we have to rely on bunnies for light!

It's Clinton's fault. :sarcasm:

He didn't ask to have the tree removed.

If they'd just put up a menorah, no one would have ever heard of him.

So WHO is it that wants the fame?

Some Reform Jews put up a tree and call it a "Hanukkah Bush". And of course it is a pagan symbol.

I've told fundies they better get rid of their tree because it's pagan. Then they look shocked.
