After six years of trying to convince my republican friends of Bush's folly, they tell me hindsight is 20/20. Fuck em. Fuck em all.

4. They should serve the country by burying the dead in Iraq.
How convenient, all the lies that got us into this war were simply mistakes due to false intelligence. Damn, I hate these people.

2. This was no "folly"--Bush was given 20/20 FORESIGHT on the invasion
Bush was told in no uncertain terms what would happen if he invaded, especially with such low troop levels. He not only went in anyway, he barely waited for inspectors to leave!

3. It was not hindsight, dammit!
What your "friends" are ignoring is that we are not suddenly realizing, johnny-come-lately style, that it was a bad idea.
For them, if they are accomplishing a conversion, it is 20-20 hindsight.
For those of us who were gifted with foresight and current sight, it is not. If a group of people is incapable of thinking deeply enough to proceed cautiously in starting an elective war, there is no reason to trust their judgment on any issue.

This bullshit of "lessons learned" is simply that-bs.
We should not be electing people so they can learn things; we elect people, or should, because of a proven track record--a proven ability to make choices that history will prove correct.

6. I totally agree with you, but I couldn't even get them to admit
that Iraq had nothing to do with 911 and we went in there because Bush said they had WMD's. No, we went in there to promote Democracy. Bush had the noblest of intentions. With this kind of denial, we'll never learn from our mistakes.

5. I tell my Republican/conservative coworkers:
You can't possibly be THAT ignorant. They invariably get mad claiming they are NOT stupid. I have to explain there is a difference between ignorant and stupid. then they begin the old rants about WMD, Al Qaeda and Saddam...I tell them they need to read more than Rush Limbaugh's lips for a news source. they give a sarcastic laugh, I ask what else they READ for their news source. None can give a name of a legitimate media source. They ARE ignorant AND stupid.

7. I hear you! I know how it feels.
This morning the talking heads said that the * administration thought we would be greeted with flowers and had no default for Iraqis defending what is theirs! Give me a break. Who in their right mind would go in without a backup plan. They choose oil over life. Those Americans who thought this war was a good idea should be over there flipping pancakes for the troops right now. No excuses. If I had a dime for every call I made to senators before this war.... Oh well, if they stop the killing that will have to be good enough for me. Yesterday my fundie mother said that there is no such thing as peace on earth. Peace comes with death. Who teaches this stuff? She said that she hates it when I sign my emails Peace on earth! I really think that this 'kill them all and let god sort it out' mentality is bigger than we think. Peace on earth, Kim

11. lots of us had good foresight

13. Hundreds of thousands of loyal Americans and millions worldwide...
Hundreds of thousands of loyal Americans and millions worldwide
stood up, multiple times *BEFORE THE WAR* and said "This is a
dumb idea!"

We knew American would rapidly "win the war", but we also knew
that there was no way that America would hold the peace. We knew
that, once the "mission" was "accomplished", the real challenges
would begin. But we were dismissed as lefties, loonies, and
"focus groups". The same media that is now saying "who could
have known?" and "hindsight is 20/20" was routinely diminishing
*BY AN ORDER OF MAGNITUDE* the reports of our numbers: "Hundreds
march opposing Bush" would read the headline when, in fact, several
hundreds of hundreds (that is, tens of thousands) had marched
*OPPOSING BUSH'S IMMINENT WAR*.

Never, ever let anyone forget: We were out there, and we were
right! Whenever you hear it, immediately stamp on this bullshit
that "no one could have known!" because millions of us demonstrably
*DID KNOW*.

Tesha
