The War on Christmas and other thoughts
A couple thoughts... A new Zogby poll(http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1213) shows that a lot of us are offended by clerks who wish us a happy holidays. I realize that most likely doesn't apply here at this forum, still it is worthy of note.

What we seem to have an abundance of in this country is people who want a selective enforcement of the Constitution. They seem to be against all the Amendments (with the possible exception of Amendment two, but they only want that enforced in the most narrow of ways).

What we really have is a group of people who seem to enjoy being victims. "Their" religion is being picked on; "their" way of life is being threatened; etc.

Here's the bottom line: If your enjoyment of Christmas depends on what others say and what others do, then you must not be comfortable with your own traditions. My Christmas season is rich and worshipful whether you say "Happy Holidays" to me or not.

Oh, and as Columbo would say, "just one more thing." My wife and were married in a church before God and witnesses. We promised to stay together, for better worse until death parted us. So far with the help of God and friends we have managed to keep that promise for over thirty years. There have been many threats to that union over the past three decades, and unfortunately, I suspect there will be many more. But none of those threats -- not one-- involve any potential union of Adam and Steve.

We just hope they're as happy as we are.

2. It's not that they want selective enforcement of the Constitution....
It is just that, as far as they are concerned, there are religions and there are the beliefs and values of every true American. The First Amendment restriction only applies to "religion," ie things like Judaism, Islam, Wicca, atheism, etc. It does not apply to the beliefs and values of every true American, ie Talibangelical Christianity.

5. it's their priorities
Their religion comes first, before country, before family.

If the voice in their head tells them to kill their firstborn son, watch out Sonny Boy!

If the voice in their head tells them to give classified documents to AIPAC, treason is A.OK if their god tells them to do it.

Which is why they should NEVER be put in positions of responsibility and power.

4. The only people telling other people what to say
are the ones that are trying to MAKE everyone say "Merry Christmas"

6. Now the true meaning of the phrase "Happy Holidays" is ruined
I used to use the phrase just cause it had a very festive ring to it, besides I like the tune.. especially the Edie Gorme and Steve Lawrence version, what a couple!

I am so pissed at idiots like O'Reilly for ruining this phrase out his false perversion and witch hunt.
Of course some rabbis aren't doing us any favors by banning Christmas trees from public places.... come on! We all know they are really pagan symbols...big deal.
