How do you put a leash on a mad dog?
The Democrats and the voters of this country have a dilemma. They sent a clear message in the last election. They want us out of Iraq. However, the mad dog in control wants to send more troops into Baghdad so we can be "victorious". Unfortunately, Speaker Pelosi and other Democrats have taken "impeachment" off the table. There is no guarantee even that threat would slow him down. He continues to slobber and growl menacingly. So what can be done?

In my opinion, the Democrats must attack his soldiers, the Republicans in the House and Senate. They need to put pressure on each and every one of them. Without his soldiers, the mad dog will be defanged. How do they do that?

At this time, the Republicans are trying to rehabilitate themselves from the last electoral debacle. They want people to forget about everything they stood for in the past. Forget about their rubberstamping of everything that George Bush asked for in regards to this war. Forget about their lack of oversight. Forget about their crusade against Social Security. Forget about the monstrous debt they laid on every American's back. Forget about the corruption and scandals. Forget about their hypocritical appeals to the Christian voters. They would rather talk about a return to the Golden Years of Ronald Reagan.

Democrats need to use these facts as leverage to get the Republicans to control their mad dog. They covet their positions of power. They do not want to lose them. Either they put pressure on their man in the White House or we will continue to put pressure on them. That may be the only way to get the mad dog's attention...?

1. Like with Nixon, bush will be fragged by his own party members.
I think you're right, they all see the handwringing on the wall.

3. You call Animal Control
They have special equipment to restrain possibly rabid animals and keep them at arm's length.

In this case, it's Poppy and his crew.

As for returning to the golden age of the Reagan years (HA), that's a DEAD dog, not a mad one.

4. Shot the dog first then attach the leash, it is the only way to avoid
....further threats and lethal damage to those all around. Also shot the rest of the pack, for they are infected also.

9. You may want to clarify your comments so they are not misconstrued?
You are only referencing wild animals, right?

5. As Bush continues ignoring the will of the people, the people may well
force Pelosi to change her mind.

What we learned over the past 6 years is the people have to be in the face of Congress all the time. It isn't going to be any different with Democrats in charge. We still need to be in their face to insist they take action on the will of the people.

6. First, kill the mad dog. Then you can easily slip the leash over its head.
Or as Ripley so eloquently put it in "Aliens": "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

8. The ol' banana on a stick snare trap trick
Disguise the leash as a vine and make it a snare and when the ape sees the banana and lunges for it, he's leashed. Then we can put a big bell around his neck.

10. Better idea, defund the goddamn war.
Our newly minted Democratic majorities have the power to do so, and the public mandate to end the war. Don't rely on the Republicans to rein their idiot son in, don't play goddamn political games with them. Simply and succinctly vote down each and every war funding resolution that comes before either the House or Senate, defund the war, and force Bushboy to brind the troops home.

This needs to be made clear to these new Dems, in fact all the Dems. The time to end the war is now, and if you don't grow a spine and do what needs to be done, then you might as well pack up your office, for you will be gone the next election.

13. BINGO
Pelosi and Reid need to get the message out today that there will be no escalation in the war. And come January, expenditures will be scrutinized.

neocon rehabilitation is unlikely as destruction of THIS MAGNITUDE is NOT EASILY forgotten; 'WE' will be continually reminded of bushco's and their lemming congressional followers' heinous acts for many decades.
