1. Howard Dean- and his 50 state strategy
He did more to turn things around this year than anyone else. He gets my vote- he always has.

4. Mine too
and I should have had a Emmanuel/Schumer/Dean option but I wanted to throw the last two in there-as a guess.

2. Help me out here, because I simply cannot fathom how it cannot be Pelosi.
This is historic -- the first woman Speaker of the House -- yet it is as if it never happened, or the corporate media questions her leadership ad nauseum, or fabricates internecine fighting which is supposed to be her fault somehow.

It must be Nancy Pelosi.

7. That's a very good point
Truly historic. Of course Time is petrified of seeming too liberal so that might conterweight Pelosi.

Good point. I had seen her name on many (but not all) lists and it really hadn't hit me how historic this is-Boy that full on onslaught on her worked huh?

6. The Person of the Year is the person who had the most influence...
not the person you like the best. Nancy Pelosi - maybe next year.

I'd say the American voter.

10. I purposely didn't mention Obama
since he is so hot hot hot right now. I was avoiding going along with the crowd.

Could be.

14. Rumsfeld.
I've said it before - I'll be really surprised if it's not Rumsfeld, with Cheney/Wolfowitz/the Neoconservatives running a close second.

Thanks for the reminder

I would not at all be surprised to learn they are serious contenders for the title.
Both are gifted observers.

19. In all fairness, it should be Nancy Pelosi- first woman speaker of the house and all.
But shouldn't Al Gore be one of the choices, too?

Seems like there's a chronic case of leaving his name off of polls, around here.

20. My take
I have to view Nov 7 as a rejection "election" and not a glowing endorsement of Democrats who have consistenly FAILED at even slowing Chimpy's deliberate destruction of America. Dean, well maybe he did lot's of work for the party and all but still, Man of the Year?
Pelosi, and her Satanic Six for 06 openly endorses the "recommendations" of the 911 commission which we all know was a whitewash job by handpicked Bush apologist frat boys.
Impeachment, arrest and Hague War Crimes trials, then I'll think about the Democratic party.

I think, without question, these people (for better or worse) have been at the center of the debate(s) for the entire year.

although he won't get it. If they give it to anyone from the DEM party, I think it'll be Pelosi.

30. This question again? Come on, it's the YouTube guys. Who else dominated the whole year?
Of course if they really wanted to be honest, they'd make the Iraqi insurgents who murder civilians the men of the year. They're the ones who convinced voters Iraq was unwinnable.
