I'm gonna say this one more time: politicians are not "rock stars"
Unless they play guitar and/or front a band.

I **loathe** ... I **despise** the term "rock star" when used in reference to ANY politician. "Rock stars" are popular musicians. I expect a hell of a lot more out of a politician. I expect brains, guts, spine, leadership, policy ... all I expect from a rock star is a blazing guitar riff or a great vocal.

Barack Obama is NOT a rock star. What he IS, is an intelligent, well-spoken, gutsy politician. Hillary is not, and never shall be, a rock star. The Big Dog never was, and never shall be, a rock star.

Did I mention that I HATE that term? That is all.

1. I thought rock star meant the person has a large following.
Such as Bill Clinton.

13. Right. But also that people get giddy in their presense, a la Obama
now, try saying "a la Obama" six times real fast.

2. I view the term as short-hand for "charismatic, popular, larger-than-life".

If "intelligent, well-spoken gutsy" were all, we'd have President Kucinich.

4. I include charisma under "leadership"
And the best ones, like the Big Dog, have it by the truckload.

I should add, Bill actually came CLOSE to "rock star" with his sax solo on Arsenio. And Kerry is reported to play a little bit of guitar.

But rock stars? No. I hate that term.

3. If you're voting for politicians based on their "likeability," then you're Republic is doomed
People said GWB was the kind of guy you'd drink beer in a bar with, but look how that turned out.

You don't get buyer's remorse when you're six feet under in Arlington. You're beyond remorse at that point, buddy.

I didn't mention likeability.
Frankly, I don't WANT my President drinking beer with me. He/she has more important things to do.

10. "Rock Star" and "likeability" are symptoms of the same damn problem of ignorance
The problem is people judging books by their covers, buying into the propaganda campaign, instead of soberly assessing politicians based upon their policy positions.

5. Ahnold would disagree with you. However, in his case, we
could call him a "crock of manure" star.

9. We are living in an age when Abraham Lincoln could never

have been president as he was not good-looking enough.

We are living in an age in which adults have a slam book mentality that should have been discarded by 9th grade. In such an age, it's not surprising that people want rock stars in politics.

the gentleman who took JD Hayworths job...

I was in such awe i couldnt speak and instantly texted everyone about the rockstar i just saw.
Because i would have reacted the same way around an actual rockstar.
