11. The guy behind them is at "Parade Rest"
It's a military term "At ease"
They looks soooooo military and presidential. :sarcasm:

Clearly they are trying to to present one of two things:

1. We're just like scrub and we have our military jackets too.

or

2. They're ready to announce their engagement. (Here in Korea, couples start dressing alike when they are in a serious relationship)

5. Retired military guys dress badly........ My Father-in-law, 30 some years...
Edited on Thu Dec-14-06 06:20 PM by Jack from Charlotte
in The AF. Looks like a million bucks in his pix in his uniform. You should see the way he dresses. White belts, light blue socks and white shoes. For that matter all the geezers in the officers club dress like clowns.

I proposed a retired AF, officers uni. Dark blue or khaki slacks. Light blue shirt with epaulets. dark blue bermuda type shorts, (weather permitting) and black shoes either of the hush puppy type or black athletic shoes.

Retired military guys should not be allowed to pick out their own clothes.

6. You are right - they are both in A-1s -
Maybe Joe signed up for the Air corp - since that is about the time those jackets were discontinued by the military.

Amazing.

Joe

7. These jackets are so ubiquitous, they mean nothing. AND they're really comfortable.
There's a reason the design is still in use today.

Though the fake over-sized ones look really stupid.

The real ones - because they are mass-produced - are usually less expensive.

8. You can buy them on the internet.
They reproduce them - really shoddy too.

The ones they are wearing do look nicer.

But those are supposed to be A-1s.

Joe

Maybe we should send Mr Joe on a bombing run over Dresden - after all - he is dressed the part.

15. I still have my dads... vintage WW2 - navy fliers jacket.
I wore it in junior high, high school, college, and even occasionally now (though unlike my dad, I can't zip up anymore). Had to have the cuffs and faux fur collar replaced, sadly.

I'll forgive McCain (he was a Navy pilot), but Joe? Where did he serve in the military?

16. I have my dad's flight/submariner jacket. You can get them repaired.
They replace the zippers, cuffs, everything. Whatever you need.

Zap me and I'll send you a link.

I love my dad's.

17. Thanks I will
but I've had it repaired once to replace collar and cuffs... and sent it to a special dry cleaners to get a stain removed (a stain I added, there are some from when my dad wore it in WWII that I wanted left just the way they are).

The reason I can't zip it up anymore is that I no longer weigh 170 lbs (6'0")... more like 235 now. So I let it hang in the closet and someday I'll give it to some one else in my family.

Either that or they've been raiding Jeff Gannon's closet.

It looks like a hunting cap...maybe he and Joe are going to be hunting wabbits, or perhaps the Red Baron.

escaped from a mental institution and stole a leather jacket to avoid the guys with the butterfly nets :)

I used to like him, now I know he's a NUTBALL, hard core Right Winger, Bush's Butt Boy..
