My young friend Courtney
Courtney will be 14 on the 22nd, three days before Christmas. Her father ran away before she was born and I don't have any of my own, so we "adopted" each other when she was five. Her mother, Donna's, caseworker picked Courtney to go on a "shop with a cop" Christmas shopping trip sponsored by our County
sheriff's Dept. She didn't want to go because she thinks she is to old. She went along anyway because she wanted a new pair of shoes.
They came back after three hours. The lady Deputy was gushing to Donna about how wonderful and helpful Courtney was. She gave up her own half hour shopping time to take five littler kids around to do their shopping. She didn't have time to look for her shoes. Found herself a digital camera on sale instead. One little girl ran up behind her and gave her a silent bearhug on the way out with her mother.
I am so overwhelmingly proud of my "granddaughter" that I want to share her loving spirit with my DU friends. She is always doing something small but unexpected like this. Courtney wants to be a pediatrician someday. I am certain she will be an extraordinary one.

12. Thanks for sharing that...
I witness and marvel at the generosity of children every day. They give me so much hope, kids like this. At her age in partcular, that's pretty remarkable.

13. Make a copy of your story and the replies...
then, someday, you will have a very nice gift for her. What a nice way to show a youngster you are proud of her.
