So Hugo turns to INTERNAL affairs

Chávez demands more efficiency from his cabinet

President Hugo Chávez Sunday, in a nationwide address, admonished his Executive Vice-President José Vicente Rangel and his Minister of the Interior Jesse Chacón because of a faulty protocol ceremony during commemoration of Liberator Simón Bolívar's 176th death anniversary at the National Pantheon.

"I am determined, with all the rigor of my soul, to fight inefficiency in this new era we are beginning. I apologize in my name and in the name of the whole nation to the Ambassador of Panama for this regrettable protocol flaw. How can anyone justify that after eight years in office we are here to witness an erratic, faltering and stammering protocol? Chávez wondered, and then asked his cabinet for "efficiency and exclusive dedication to the responsibilities we have."

Chávez' reprimand came after the Venezuelan Children and Youth Symphonic Orchestra played the Panamanian national anthem when the Panamanian diplomats were returning to their seats after they laid a wreath on the tomb of Bolívar. The Panamanian Ambassador, Alexandro Ballesteros, upon hearing his country's national anthem stopped in the middle of the hall, and then Chávez came next to him and gave him a hug. They turned to the tomb and completed the protocol.

Diplomat butts into hot disputes, presuming that the combatants will welcome and appreciate his even-handed and eminently reasonable mediation. Frankly, he gets what he deserves.

8. The graphic perfectly represents me being FLAMED, but
Edited on Mon Dec-18-06 11:51 PM by UTUSN
its label/description is something like "Diplomat," something like copping out.

I really REALLY detest being FLAMED to death over an opinion. When the "other side" is just AN OPINION!!!!1

I've learned the signs of being FLAMED:

* I state an opinion, THEN they call me a WINGNUT.

* I cite a link (from Google) and they CALL the LINK a WINGUT (the Associated Press, the WHATEVER newspaper).

* They ATTACK IN DROVES, like bees and mosquitos!!!!!!!!1

* They PICK ON ONE WORD, then CHANGE the TARGET WORD endlessly.

* They don't allow any reasoning.

3. Just for cross-reference:
SOME of her men (NOTE, the 4th image is an abstract rendering of LIMBOsevic). LIMBOsevic is included because she published his first two, ghost written by John FUND (at least the first one) books:

.... Then Judith and Rupert found each other -- and ReganBooks was born. Not only did their commercial instincts mesh, but Judy's what's-the-world-ever-done-for-me politics were highly compatible with the Murdoch view.

And then the sex part. It's a one-woman show.

I have never heard anyone talk about sex the way Judy does. I have never heard anyone talk about their sexual partners the way Judy does. I have never heard anyone analyze individual motivations, the workings of the marketplace, and politics, too, in such precisely sexual terms. The other day, on her show, she kept interrupting her tempered guests on the subject of why women like Bill Clinton, and, voice rising, saying: "They want to have sex with him -- that's why they like him!"

Early in her career at Simon & Schuster, she published a book called The Rogue Warrior and fought tooth and nail for a full-face cover photo of the author. "Don't they understand?" she stormed to me. "Women will buy this because they want to fuck him!" She got the full face and a best-seller.

http://www.zianet.com/insightanalytical/newlow.htm (by DUer Gloria: )

Regan looked straight into the camera and for almost 10 minutes, delivered a pseudo stream-of-consciousness poetry riff mocking Clinton. Referring to his sad boyhood, she mocked his loneliness, then proclaimed that he built himself up and called himself KING, because "I am rich and I can do what I want!" She likened him to the cast out Socks, and envisioned him an old man meeting up with Socks at 125th street, both holding tin cups. ....

It was incredibly vicious. What was especially appalling was how she took the most painful aspects of Bill's background--his truly grievous childhood--and twisted them, using them to mock him. If this wasn't the "politics of personal destruction" I don't know how else you could describe this horrific display. ....

And I (the poster) will claim credit for insight. Back when KERIK's book for REGAN was debutting, she hosted him on her Faux interview show. His tale was of his missing mother, who inexplicably abandoned him as a tot. She never showed up for a custody hearing. The premise of the book was that this tough uber-male had this hole in his heart, thereby setting the pants on fire of tough wingnuts of all genders. As she probed him about the book, she and KERIK locked smouldering, HOT gazes. Once the mother-thing was done, she moved on to his heroics (which were what?) on 9-11. She asked WHERE HE WAS when the planes hit. Without missing an eye-lock, he said, "Stepping out of the shower." She swallowed and held a long breath. The image of nekkid KERIK was plainly etched on the Faux camera lens during the LONG pause. He added, "In my office." Another LONG pause. He added, "After WORKING OUT." There was another swallow. I suspected BACK THEN that something was cooking between publisher and author, and it weren't spaghetti. Only 2 or 3 years later, when KERIK's many other past deeds floated to the surface like dead bodies did it become official that there was indeed WILD WINGNUT HOT LOVE between the two, that the two of them alternated their WILD WINGNUT HOT LOVE sessions with WORKING OUT together, that he had used NYPD to track down what happened to his mother, that he used NYPD to provide security for his personal WILD WINGNUT HOT LOVE sessions, that the WILD WINGNUT HOT LOVENEST was a city-paid apartment near the WTC intended as a rest site for rescue and recovery workers. The REGAN-KERIK Faux interview was pure musk in the air. Why don't Shrub's handlers hire some of US for intelligence work?

Don't make me spend my time reading so many words, it's inefficient!

10. What I saw on Univision was that he attacked his own flunkies
because of a "protocol" LITTLE glitch, something about the Panamian national anthem.

Now. I have trouble with TINPOT DICTATORS, whether it's Shrub or anybody else from the RIGHT or the LEFT.

Why does Hugo decide that he can SHOOT HIS FUCKING MOUTH OFF about every other country while he has PLENTY of crap to work on IN HIS OWN. (Not a question.)

So he was ELECTED. Fine. Yet look at him. What I saw on the video was an assembly hall FULL of flunkies QUAKING IN THEIR GODDAMNED BOOTS, including a Catholic cardinal.

My bottom line for determining whether an asshole is an asshole on a national level is: DO I WANT TO LIVE LISTENING TO THIS ASSHOLE FOR HOURS ON END AND FOR IDIOT CONTENT ON END????????

My answer for Hugo and Fidel is-----------GUESS WHAT!!!!!1------------NO!!!!!!!!!!1

I also don't want to live under Shrub, but I'm working on it.

12. Tinpot dictator. Now that's a word I haven't hear in decades.
Listen to me. The chiefs, and that is what Chavez is, will do what keeps his tribe happy and the coalition of tribes that makes up Venezuela. I think this is not such a big deal. If he caves to the demands of the western world, then he's truly not Hugo the Great anymore.

When he doesn't work as the "big man" anymore the Venezuelan native people will get rid of him fast enough.

Edited on Tue Dec-19-06 12:26 AM by Cleita
I hate to say it, but they reason they are hated by us is because they have challenged the Monroe Doctrine. Most of the dictators in Latin America, in my time anyway, were supported by our country and recieved foreign aid for getting out of the way of our business interests. Castro, Allende (murdered) and lately Chavez are challenging the USA. They aren't painted saints but they are agin us.

In SA, it's really hard to run things if you aren't s a strong man. The population has elected the strong man that they want.

25. I disagree with the assertion he is a dictator. He won re-election fairly.
With a strong majority of the vote.

He was elected in 2000 with the new constitution. He just won re-election to his second term this month. He survived a military coup that saw the coup leaders liquidate both the legislature and the courts. He survived a crippling company imposed lock-out/strike to halt oil shipments from leaving the country as the same opponents attempted to wreck the economy, and he survived a recall referendum called by the same opponents behind the military coup.

Chavez can be called many things, but I remain incredulous at the appellation of dictator.

It's not a matter of Hugo CHALLENGING THE US. It's that HE is a dictatorial a-hole (I don't care that he was "elected"). So was STALIN. So was HITLER. So was Shrub. Ha-HAH!!!1 ELECTIONS!!!!1

That said, if some country wants to "elect" an a-hole--------SO BE IT!!!1 But not FOR ME!!!1

23. To be continued.
None of those guys were elected but got into power with a technicality that the encrusted, welded to their seats, assemblies that were supposed to make sure this didn't happen, allowed to cruise by them.

Sorry, UTUSN, but Hugo is the most legitimate of the aforementioned. He may not be your guy or mine, but he's theirs.

26. Other than the fact that you seem to oppose democracy in Venezuela when
it results in electing someone you dislike, I can't make any sense out of your OP. Trying to guess at what you might be trying to say, I am guessing you are the kind of person who sent flowers to the Pinochet funeral and a letter of thanks to Kissinger for "saving" Chile from socialism. Or maybe were glad the Shah was installed in Iran, because the democratically elected Mossedegh was a socialist of some sort. Guessing you are too young or ignorant to know that bit of history, here's a link: http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0304-21.htm .

Just a short version of the lessons to be learned, siding with US imperialist warmongers is a sure way to bring more suffering and hardship to the people of the US and the world. That may not (or may) be your goal, but is the certain outcome of your political alliances.
