I was one of those fortunate people who got to spend a little (too little) bit of time with Andy.
It was in Nashville at the Election Reform Convention April 9-12 2005. Seems like I spent more time hanging with Andy and Brad Friedman than actually taking part in the forums. But they were both the best part of the weekend to me.
I hope that your life is beginning to fill in the hole by now. It will always be there. But life does heal around it after a while.
Take good care of the pups and I hope someday you will begin to take a more active part in the DU family.

We will always be here for you

How time flies....

It was two years ago tonight that Andy came to my house. It was such a pleasure to have him with us, my family talked about it tonight and how great his visit was.

Actually, Daniel has been attending college for two years, but this is the official going-away-from-home time. (He is 17.) Best wishes to you, GAOT!

Christmas to you and animal lovers everywhere. Did any of you see the elephant orphanage story on 60 Minutes last night? Some citizens of the world are out there doing good 24 hours a day! Joy to the World! Peace on Earth. Goodwill to all God's creatures!

What a darling picture!!

Two years ago tonight, he was with me. Probably not well, but he didn't know it at the time. He looked tired, but he had been working too hard and his sister had died a month before.

I had the nicest note from his mother, talking about what a great Christmas he had here with us that year. It snowed a bit while we were at my sister's. Andy had never seen snow on Christmas Day and was enchanted by it. I remember turning onto the side street that took us home, and the street was snow covered. So the tires crunched over the snow. He was unfamiliar with that particular noise and thought that something had gone wrong with my tires. I assured him that everything was fine, it was just the sound of driving over new-fallen snow. We made it back safely.

...after we were snowed and iced in at a hotel in Downtown Columbus for two days! I didn't have to turn out the lights on my way out (ha) as the electricity was already off in many places. There was like 2" of ice on top of 9" of snow. The ice was beautiful but many in OH were without power or heat with the high temps that were like 12 degrees! I have a Jimmy with 4WD and which made it possible for a bunch of us to get over to the German Village on the 23rd for a nice dinner. By the 24th we out of state people could leave... most by air but since I was driving I took about 60lbs of boxed Recount materials to the Port Columbus' 24/7 Post Office (which was closing for Christmas Eve!) to express mail to the Recount coordinator so she wouldn't have to carry all this on a crowded plane.

Andy told me he had his own little saga in that storm, lol, which I guess eventually involved you, GreatAunt!

Then in January we all went to D.C. for the first PDA Conference after the "coronation"; Andy sure knew about snow driving by then because I drove him out to the northern VA home of a DUer where he was staying to get his suitcases, etc. I had to turn on the 4WD most of the way, but it was fun.

Yup, I miss Andy too. :cry:
