Question for Ford apologists: What is an impeachable offense?
I ask this because Nixon was accused of some serious crimes, Breaking and Entering, abuse of power, use of CIA domestically, violation of many citizens' civil rights, etc. So what's the threshold here?

1. Sshhh, you're not to remember those things, nor that the pardoning of
Nixon enraged some republicans. Just keep thinking that remembering and documenting what he did is purely partisan and unseemly at this time, and you won't have to bother yourself with that whole threshold thing. Of course if he hadn't pardoned Nixon and criminal prosecution had taken place we might not be in this current situation with Bush** shouldn't enter into the discussion either.

2. According to Ford himself...
.... it is whatever Congress thinks it is at the time.

He said that in 1970 when he was part of an effort to impeach Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas.

There is a ring of truth in his own words.

6. You know, I wouldn't mind having an honest politician in office somewhere...
someone who fesses up to mistakes, and promises to, and delivers, on rectifying those mistakes. What I hate are those politicians who are ALWAYS RIGHT(TM), even if they were wrong in the past.

5. Getting a blowjob in the Oval Office.
That's the only truly unpardonable sin that comes to mind.

7. You know what...
I think it ends up like this, a Republican President could be caught on Live TV raping a 10 year old, kicking a dog, and torching a cat, all at the same time, and STILL wouldn't be impeached, apparently Presidents, especially Republican ones, can do no wrong.

8. the pardon
didn't keep him from being impeached. He resigned before he could removed. The pardon kept him from being criminally prosecuted.

10. I don't understand...
Ford had nothing to do with any impeachment attempts regarding Nixon.

Nixon resigned, thus making the question of impeachment moot.

What did Ford have to do with it?
