I vaugely remember a story about some computer experts trying to use digital technology to piece together some parts of it but I don't know if anything came of it.

4. I found an article that talks about it
ast summer, the National Archives and Records Administration decided it was time to take another look, in the hope that advances in digital technology would be able to restore the conversation. NARA invited audio experts to demonstrate how they might retrieve intelligible speech. The competition - a battle of the bands among a dozen or fewer audio experts - is expected to last more than a year. Before any of them get their hands on the original tape, they must show they can retrieve sound from test erasures without doing damage. Those who succeed will get a crack at the real thing.

I haven't found any articles where someone has been able to get a hold of the original yet.

6. I always suspected that it had to do with the JFK thing
Always keep in mind that both RMN and GHWB always claimed that they could not recall their whereabouts on that November day of 1963.

8. Nixon was obsessed with Kennedy and
(I think) wanted to find out what really happened to him. I think that's what was on the tape and the RWingers took Nixon out because of it. Nixon's probably lucky he didn't end up dead like Kennedy. And yeah I got on my :tinfoilhat: but it's what I think.

9. Nixon made many references to that "Bay of Pigs" thing...

elsewhere on his tapes. I think that 18.5 minutes was a detailed explanation of what he meant by the "Bay of Pigs" reference. It would have been a gateway into possibly what happened to Kennedy. I doubt Nixon was personally involved, but I still believe he had a good idea which groups were responsible for it and was actively covering it up.
