Poll question: Are people really concerned about cloned livestock?
The 24's are all talking about labeling for cloned meat. Does anyone really care?

1. The way I see this
is the anti-cloning folks can avoid eating cloned livestock. That way there is more for the rest of us. :)

4. Have you done any reading on the deformities of cloned animals?
Do *you* want a Dolly Shank? I for one would not want to eat meat from substandard organisms.

The FDA is asleep at the wheel, letting agrobusiness drive overview process(As is usual for a defanged regulatory body under the bush admin..)

Is your question does "anyone" as in Joe Sixpack and Mary Housecoat? or do we as individuals?

5. My question is why are the news groups trying to make people care

I don't really think people do, I know they have time to fill, but it's a bit silly.

Business regulating itself to the detriment of the public health.

Why should we not care?

"a non-issue"

Without the research to prove that it's safe.. we should assume the negative.

11. I read yesterday that they'd been researching this for five whole
years. Big deal. Its going to take a lot longer than that to really see what is really going to happen.

6. I care. i can't speak for others.
but if you wnna eat an animal that potentially hasgenetic defects that are going to affect the animal's quality of life and your health, then go for it. that's what the darwin awards are all about.

10. I want to know the difference if it's being put in the marketplace

12. Will it ever become cheap enough to be a regular practiice?
Right now breeding is a lot cheaper than cloning. I don't think cloning for meat is being done on any kind of scale soon.
Are they thinking about slaughtering the clones that they have been using for research for meat?

13. Nothing done to the food supply in the last 100 years has been for
the benefit of the consumer. I would expect this to be the same.

14. It's a matter of labeling for me, too.
I don't mind if this cloned meat thing is something that some want, but it should be labeled and differentiated from natural meat sources. I think that information is something our government owes us that has been far too lacking. They are not trustworthy with anything, let alone human lives. There are too many special interests and corporations that to whom these decision makers are beholden.

This could do wonders for the small farms, though. I know that my Dad and his brothers buy the beef from a farm where they know the people who run it and the methods of rearing used. I know that if this cloned meat goes into effect with no labels, I will be forking some money over to my dad to get beef.
