2. Not obvious at all.
Could you imagine. Would have tied up the Neo-Cons with a nice red ribbon.

What a travesty.

7. You are right, but I'm sure it will backfire on them.
Something will come out of left field that they hadn't counted on and then it will be all over for them.

9. You are absolutely correct.
Can you imagine Congressional investigations going to Iraq to depose Saddam? I suspect that the timing has much to do with the new Congress coming in. Last week I heard there was a 30 day window. That sure closed in a hurry.

Dead men tell no tales. No wonder why Bush is sleeping easy tonight.

12. Seems rather odd, to say the least...
...that Saddam was tried for those 148 deaths. What about the Kurds? Anyone else wonder why that was not the matter for which he was on trial?

The answer seems pretty obvious, IMO ~~ dead men tell no tales.

to other tinpot dictators put in power by the US to mind their manners and not to go dumping oil at fire sale prices.

Cutting into BFEE profits is a no no.

I agree with your post. I think we all knew Saddam would be killed sooner than later. In fact, many were surprised he made it this long.

Saddam would have been discredited by the barrage of attorneys on the defense side. I just wonder how that would have played out. How can a man who committed such atrocities AND who has been sentenced to death be trusted to tell the truth?

Saddam wasn't the only one. I don't expect much from the next Congress. But let's keep the pressure on.
