Gore/Obama is my first choice, but I wonder will the public be ripe for a split ticket ?

1. Sorry dude, it sounds ridiculous
If we can't come up with a winning ticket from within the Dems, we should hang it up.

14. Right, Chaffee is a conservative and would
drag the ticket down like Lieberman did.

The last thing any candidate needs is an albatross around his neck with a conservative voting record.

4. I like Chaffe, but not as VP
For one, we already own New England and I don't see how he would help a ticket much.

Perhaps a cabinet post in a Gore administration would be a good step.

12. while he can be "independent" - he seems to be more of a follower.
Had someone else in the Senate switched, he might have followed suit - just not bold enough to do it on his own - even though it most likely would have sealed his politcal fate. Then again, perhaps serving in the senate as a republican in this rea, perhaps he really didn't want another term... ?

11. vvv
Not only is a dem/rep ticket extremely unlikely, a lot of dems would vote against chaffee for being a republican, while a lot of republicans will vote against chaffee for being such a RINO

why leave my man obama out? His run is supposed to become official very soon after the new year

15. Not Going to Run
I personally hoped to see Gore run. I really wanted him to. then realized he is not going to run.
it's best to look elsewhere and find someone to support with the opening that if by some 1 in a million chance he does, you can jump ship and support Gore.
But, he really is not running.

17. why run with a republican?
There are so many good strong democrat candidates out there that we should be able to find a good choice. IMHO there is a fine line between being liberal and open-minded and being taken for a fool. The democrats are a good and strong people with great ideas and compassion for our world. We don't need to run with a republican to win an election. Afterward when we are in office, we should work with them at finding the best solution for the country, but we don't need to run one so we can win the election. IMHO.

18. Yikes! That's as bad as the "Why not a Kerry/McCain ticket?" that was flying around
here in '04. INSANE! That's how it sounds. I like DEMOCRATS on my ticket and we have PLENTY of excellent Dems to choose from without having to lower our standards.
