Spitzer's Iinauguration Speech - we need more of this.

I can't find a transcript, but after welcoming Pataki and other Republican leaders by name, Spitzer went on to list all the damaging things they've done to NYS in the last ten years and outlined how he is going to correct the situation. Here's hoping he's able to follow through!

On edit: apparently this was the first time ever that the governor of New York had an outdoor inauguration. Global climate change, anyone?

I hope the next President does the same thing w/ W.

new drug laws.

To me, Spitz is kinda like the new Pataki. Spitz supported Lieberman for Pres, but didn't say so - he instead said Howard Dean was "unelectable" because he doesn't support the Iraq war.

So, lets see Spitz improve workers rights (since, in NYS, workers are not allowed to unionize - just like the rest of America - the National Labor Review Board has robed us of the right to collective bargain).

Lets see how he gets rid of mandatory minimums and racist factors of the drug war.

Lets see how he protects our vote.

I see him as the epitome of the DLC. I hope he proves me wrong.

He has all the power. I am interested in seeing if he represents the people or the corporations. He can't do both.

and he will pursue the wrongs.

Will he pursue the wrongs, even if it is unpopular to do so?

Ask any financial investors this - "Did Spitz clean up Wall Street?" Those in the know think that he did the bidding to the CEO's, and that all this action really resulted in was a slap on the wrist. Again, a slap on the wrist is much better then the slap on the back that CORPS got from the GOP.

As a Californian, I covet the new governor. We need more of him.

Give him a run as NY governor. He'll earn the respect, trust and recognition of the American people. He has the intelligence, strength, integrity and political savvy of a James Madison. We need him to lead our country. He has never feared to fight corruption and injustice from Gotti to Enron.

We were there, it was great. I have some hope that things can and will get better.

Everyone was talking about the part of the speech where he went on with the list of the damage that the Republicans have done!
