And I thought that the new year was off to such a good start.
After the receipt of Cease and Desist letters, it looked like a certain site which has been illegally reproducing my copyrighted essays and comic strips had finally caved in. A search on my name there came up next to empty this morning, and it looked like everything I objected to was gone.

Well, I just discovered that all my material IS still on that site, just not searchable. It's not that it's been removed from sight, either. It's still selectable from their forum thread display, too.

I think that making attempts to hide my material from me while not deleting it could safely push this into the "willful" category, too.

This could all change, of course. Nothing new of mine has been posted in a few days (not even last night's "New Year's In Crawford" cartoon), and they DO have until Friday the 5th to confirm that everything has been deleted and that they will guard against this kind of thing in the future. We'll see what happens.

(By the way, anyone who's had their own stuff duplicated without permission and wants to make something out of it, please PM me for contact information and letters you can use to assert your rights.)

1. I haven't had anything of mine reduplicated there
thank god, well I don't know if my Zodiac heroines were or not. But they have made fun of my appearance in one of the photo threads.

Pabs, I do hope you win and tear these assholes a new one. They certainly are a primodial breed of humans. (Hell I'm not sure if they are human.)

2. They can make fun of me all they want
(except for the threads where they claim I'm a child molester, of course.)

Thanks for the words of encouragement. They can say all they want, as long as it's within the law.

3. This is why I fear putting comics on the Internet..
I am a superhero comic artist/write wannabe and I would like to be able to share my work on-line and maybe hopefully get a good audience. But I am afraid of someone lifting my work off, I don't have the kind of money to be able to get an official copyright register and I know it can be quite difficult to prove your work is yours if you get it stolen.

Besides I don't know of any sites where I could I host my work.

4. Not really.
It's only $45.00 to register a copyright, and you have your copyright automatically even if you don't register. You only need to register before bringing a court case.
