Some reason's why I'm doubting the Congressman's wife's story
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 10:57 PM by FreedomAngel82
First of all I'm not doubting whether or not it happened or not, but I'm doubting whether or not it was all as she claims or if it was a Rovian stunt. This is something he would do just like with Alito's wife "crying." I was thinking about this earlier and here's my reasoning for not believing this. First of all when Cindy got out of jail she filed for a first amendment suit ASAP. So far I haven't heard anything out of the Congressman's wife filing a suit. Maybe I just haven't seen it on DU because of all the threads but I'm sure it would be here multiple times if it happened. Next she claims she was sitting six rows in front of Laura Bush. So Laura Bush and others had to have been in the House at the time because she knew where Laura was sitting. Do they have "reserved for *insert name here*" on the seats or do they just sit where they can or what?
Is there any other way she could've known where Laura was sitting unless she was there? Last night I was up when it happened here on DU and it was first reported about Cindy and than the media got all on it and was going after her to get her first on their respective show(s). It looks like the "Today" show was supposed to have her on. Why weren't the "Today Show" people going after this Congressman's wife if they were so outraged and disgusted? Her little story takes away from Cindy and what happened with her. The police were brutal and horrible to Cindy even though she was very nice and polite to them while the Congressman's wife was very rude and called him an idiot but yet she wasn't arrested. Why was Cindy and not her? The woman's husband is a CONGRESSMAN who is there at the House ALL THE TIME. He knows the rules better than Cindy Sheehan does and his wife. Why did he allow his wife to wear the shirt? Were they sitting together or was he with his colleages and she somewhere else? These are just some question's I have about the whole thing. Thanks.

1. I agree except I don't think it happened at all.
True, I haven't been knocking myself out to follow this, but what little I've seen only has the Congressman's wife's perspective. Nobody else is quoted to confirm it.

3. I agree--sounds very Rovian...
I figure some egg-brain decided oo-oo we can't just bust Cindy Sheehan. People might think we did it on purpose to keep her from stealing the SOTUS from Dim Son. We'll arrange an equal time for Republicans "arrest." I don't buy it because these Representative wives are not like the average person who never goes to any fancy dress occasions. They know the drill for what to wear and when to wear it. They would never wear a shirt that might cost the hubby's constituent votes. They keep those things for their invitation-only shindigs.

4. Why would he allow his wife to wear the shirt?
Because they don't think the rules apply to them.

And the Congressdude sounded pretty pissed that his wife was ejected while the president was talking about supporting the troops. You wouldn't think he'd make a stink all over the prez if the whole thing was staged.

5. I thought the same....having a pro-war Republican bounced cancels
the impact of Sheehan's removal. It was stage managed, no question.

6. Guys, I suggest you look at the lady's bio before stirring this stuff up.
I think you'll find it on the Greatest page.

7. I Saw A Post Earlier Saying It Was Fake. I thought it was just an
individual thought that most would shrug off.

I'm a bit surprised how many also have stated that view, but I still am 100% in the camp that questioning it's truth in this case is really far fetched. Not a shred of doubt in my mind that it happened, was real, and was not staged in any way.

8. If the wife of a Congressman was ejected during the speech
wouldn't it have elicited some attention from the cameras?

12. Would there have been a scene to where they would come over?

9. I think she was real. GOP too smart by half - in inviting Cindy. They
knew very well that putting a repuke family up there beside Laura would not go over well since Cindy had been ignored.

10. The GOP did not invite her. A Dem congresswoman from CA.
