One of the main reasons Ford and Carter bonded in later years
is because they both shared a similar world outlook and both shared a profound disdain for Ronald Reagan.

Both Ford and Carter thought Reagan's presidency a disaster.

1. and Jr.s
they both thought Jr was worse.
But, then, everyone does. People talk about Nixon. He was bad but, Jr. puts him to shame.

2. during dickie's term, and every term since, until THIS one, I didn't think it possible that ANYBODY
could make dickie look less horrible in comparison. was I ever wrong!!

I mean, dickie could even speak in complete, coherent sentences most of the time, and he actually knew where the countries were, how to pronounce them, and even knew how to pronouce the leaders' names.

3. By today's standards,
Ford, Nixon, and Eisenhower were radical leftists.

It is pretty sad when we look fondly upon Nixon as the most decent man elected by the GOP in 40 years.

RIP President Ford. You remind me that I don't hate Republicans. I only hate what Republicans have become.

You also remind me that I was not crazy when I voted for people from your Party earlier in life.

4. Scary to say
but a rational historical argument can be made that Nixon set in motion the events that led to the demise of the Soviet Union.

If he hadn't been a whacked, paranoid nutjob who trampled on the constitution, he'd be remembered as a fairly successful, moderate, middle of the road President.

5. Carter could barely contain his look of contempt as the Chimperor
spoke at Ford's funeral today.
