Weird Stuff about Saddam Hanging over at Josh Marshall's Site!
Edited on Wed Jan-03-07 01:28 PM by KoKo01
Amazing posts over there with lots of info supplied by TPM Reader Diggers who seem to be uncovering that the Neo-Cons (Cliff May, et al) are involved in more renegade foreign policy decisions. Josh at one point suggests the "early hanging" was allowed to "lock us in Iraq." (Sheesh...what a calculated blunder if true.)

Lots of incredible snips from conflicting reports of NYT, WSJ, CNN that point to the really messed up Saddam hanging. Also intriguing as to who is being quoted by our MSMedia. It appears CNN has a direct line to some of this and is being fed mis-information along with NYT,WSJ and others.

Check it out. It's lots of posts down on the page with Updates from Josh and readers.

1. great link, thanks for the heads up
Curiouser and curiouser:

TPM

al Rubaie on Dec. 29th ...

the whole process from A to Z has been videoed, and it's kept in a safe place, and there was absolutely no humiliation to Saddam Hussein when he was alive, and after he was executed. So there was no -- there was all respect to him, when he was alive, and after the execution when he was like a body, if you like. I'm honestly proud of the way it was executed. It was done in a proper way, in all the international standards and the Islamic standards, and Iraqi standards. I'm really proud of the way it went on ...

And today ...

Iraq's National Security Adviser, Mouwaffaq al-Rubaie, said the shouting was "unprofessional, disgusting and shouldn't have happened".

"This was supposed to be a uniting event between Shia and Sunni," Mr Rubaie told Sky TV, adding that Iraq's government would punish those found to be involved.

Maybe he should look at his cell phone video again to remind him?

And just look at Rumsferatu's barely-suppressed glee. These deranged sociopaths raise the hair on the back of my neck.

posts so the running updates on the hanging are getting broken up.

This stuff gets pretty weird pretty quickly. But I get the feeling that something this is what's at the root of urgency. I think Maliki wanted to lock us in.

Of course, there's another distinct possibility -- that it's Maliki who realizes that he's not going to be around (or, given the country and danger of ambiguity, in government) for much longer. After all, the troop surge/escalation is to wipe out Sadr and his Mahdi Army, upon whose thugs and muscle Maliki seems to lean.

Even Later Update: Hangin' at the same dinner parties? A couple TPM Readers alerted me to the fact that this schoolchildren hostage scenario showed up in a post Cliff May did at The Corner on New Year's day ...

Imagine that Saddam had not been executed. Imagine that he had been sentenced to life in prison. Now imagine that a group of pro-Saddam terrorists seizes an elementary school. They say they will kill all the students and teachers if Saddam is not released within 24 hours.

Should Saddam then be released? Or should several dozen innocent children and their teachers be killed?

Is it not better that we have guaranteed that it will never be necessary to make such a choice?

Hard to imagine both these guys imagining this one independently. What's the backstory? Did someone in the US suggest this to the reporter?

3. food for thought KoKo01
Imagine that bush is not impeached. Imagine that he is allowed to remain in office for the balance of his term. Now imagine that a group of pro-bill of rights terrorists seize an elementary school. They say they will kill all the students and teachers if bush is not impeached within 24 hours.

Should bush then be impeached? Or should several dozen innocent children and their teachers be killed?

Is it not better that we have guaranteed that it will never be necessary to make such a choice?

4. I hope it doesn't ever come to that....and I know that you do, also!
:hi: but given the times we live in...all is possible even if it meets with a disastrous ending. :-(
