Another slam against Bushco's effect on America on Gilmore Girls last
night. Anyone else catch it?

The show has subtle (F 9/11 poster on the teenage protagonists wall and an Al Franken book at her bedside) and not so subtle ("I hate George w. Bush. He's an idiot and his eyes are much too close together") anti-* commentary all the time. This was last night's"

Loralei (one of the Gilmore girls) is showing her friend Suki how to care for her dog

Loralei: "whatever you do, don't let him see his leash! You have to sneak up behind him and clip it on-if he sees it, he freaks out".

Suki: "but what happens when the leash is on him? Doesn't he freak out then, too"?

Loralei: "Well, the trick is distracting him so he doesn't become aware of the leash. If you make sure that he's unaware that his freedoms are gradually being striped away from him, he doesn't mind the fact that he's lost them. He's the perfect American".

2. Yeah, it had been in a real slump
maybe there was a change among their writers?

5. I only get three channels. Are there any other non-political shows out
there that are "openly liberal"? Show's like M*A*S*H and "All in the Family" certainly were in the '70's, and "The Cosby Show" and "Family Ties" were in the '80's-but now?

11. Not specifically...
A lot of shows show sparks of it, but nothing overwhelming. Not on network TV, anyway. Showtime had Queer as Folk and now The L Word, but I can't think of anything obvious on the big 3.

13. Well, then I guess the "liberal media" is fairly absent outside
of the mainstream news as well. :-(

14. You get the occasional zinger
from Det. Munsch on Law and Order SVU, the occasional quip on shows like the Gilmore Girls and the various CSIs, but, yeah. You could say that.

7. I just remembered another from last season:
Edited on Thu Feb-02-06 01:40 AM by Lorien
Loralei's wealthy, republican parents were trying to think of a way to get their granddaughter out of going to trial for a minor crime she committed. The Grandfather says" I can make a call to Scooter Libby and see what he can do" the Grandmother responds "better make it quick, before the indictments come down". :D
