PNAC is dying?
Edited on Wed Jan-03-07 08:14 PM by ck4829
The ambitions proclaimed when the neo-cons' mission statement "The Project for the New American Century" was declared in 1997 have turned into disappointment and recriminations as the crisis in Iraq has grown.

"The Project for the New American Century" has been reduced to a voice-mail box and a ghostly website. A single employee has been left to wrap things up.

The AEI, which has become the natural home for refugees from the American Project, is promoting an article entitled: "Choosing Victory: A Plan for Success in Iraq".

The article calls not for a withdrawal of US troops but for an increase. President Bush's decision is expected in early January.

Apparently, PNAC is nearly dead, but rising from out of it's corpse is the more Corporatist and more Socially Conservative AEI. It looks like the Neocons aren't done yet. We better prepare for Round 2.

1. By the AEI, I take it that you mean the
American Enterprise Institute?

3. PNAC won't die ...
... it'll just crawl under a rock until the current generation of voters forgets about them, bide their time, foment their plots and count their money ... and then re-appear when they think they're "safe" --- just like Rummy and Cheney did after the Nixon Administration.

6. I agree. Most of the major players are still out there screwing
up our country. Number one is our VP, Dick Cheney.

9. It's pushing up the daisies, gone to meet its maker, joined the choir invisible etc.
and did so about a year ago. See http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x956104

Of the 2 European organisations mentioned in that post, the "Committee for a Strong Europe" seems to have never materialised, in public anyway; the Henry Jackson Society churns out neoconservative tracts that the Labour party members in the society ought to be ashamed to be associated with, but its influence seems to be nil, thankfully. The AEI was in many ways the parent of the PNAC, anyway - it long pre-dated it, and gave it office space.
