Rep. John Murtha: Extensive Hearings on Iraq
I will be recommending to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense that we begin extensive hearings starting on January 17, 2007 that will address accountability, military readiness, intelligence oversight and the activities of private contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan.

We will be demanding substantive answers to questions that have gone unanswered for far too long.

The war in Iraq and its effect on our military and our nation's future remains the most crucial issue facing the new Congress. I will be will be recommending an aggressive pursuit of action that will allow us to reduce our military presence in Iraq at the soonest practicable date.

Republican leaders in partneship with the White House/Pentagon/VP Office. Shame. Shame. Shame.

7. Nothing less than accountability will force this administration...

..... to change course.

This president will continue to follow his pattern of always upping the ante.

No amount of human cost, no amount of evidence, no amount of fact, reason, or morals....

Nothing but accountability and removal from office will result in course correction.

8. How soon we forget... we owe Murtha more gratitude
I still remember when he, who (because he is a veteran and because he actually routinely visits the maimed troops) had credibility even with some of the wingnut screechers.

Because of that special credibility, Murtha took us WAY forward in our desire to END THIS FRAUDULENT WAR. He deserves more notice and gratitude. No disrespect to Steny Hoyer, but compared to Murtha, he's just another yes-man.

13. What is your problem? The ONLY good thing he's doing? Let's hear the details,
or are you just going to stick with hit-and-run gratuitous sniping?

12. The most important hearings in a generation (or two)
haul the bastards in, swear everyone and keep them going, fives days a week 'til we get some answers, or the basis for contempt or Congress or perjury charges
