I'm so proud to have been a little part of the women's movement as a young woman. As I watched some of the montages during this ceremony, I find myself longing for the spirit of those days when women were standing up and pushing back against discrimination. I would live them again in a heartbeat. I do not want to leave the impression that I have abandoned women's issues with age. This ceremony just made me a little nostalgic for those days.

4. She has a great laugh and I love that she is unapologetic in her
pride and love for her family. You can see it. I've been thinking as I have been watching her that it is time to have a mom and grandma in a position of power. It is time for someone who thinks of the small ones when needing to deal with decisions about the machines of death and the policies which deploy them. It is time for someone who understands the intimate reality of feeding small ones and those who are ill. I believe women have a very different experience of providing for the intimate needs of their families than do men, particularly since it is a responsibility that is still delegated to women, or more precicely, assumed by them.
