Bush Claims Power to Open Citizens Mail - do we have a post on this?
I just saw this in the KC Star - no article to go with it.

President Bush has quietly claimed sweeping new powers to open American's mail without a judge's warrant, the New York Daily News has reported. The president asserted his new authority when he signed a postal reform bill into law Dec. 20. Bush then issued a "signing statement" that declared his right to open people's mail under emergency conditions. That claim is contrary to existing law, say experts who have reviewed it.

I don't think should come as a surprise but this guy is simply not going to stop at anything. He will have to be stopped.

2. In addition to other investigations that are proposed by the new Congress,
they should also look at each and every "signing statement" he has added on in all the years he has been in office. A brief description of the bill should be published along with his signing statement(s) to show the American public how arrogant and obstinate he truly is.

3. That is a really good suggestion. I wonder if Congress is
looking at those signing bills. If they aren't, they should be.

I really think Bush has just gone off the deep end. He should be forced to resign (along with Cheney). This country is just not safe with him in office.

7. He Can Read, Gato
But, he can't comprehend, and probably couldn't get to the bottom of page one before getting bored. Reading is hard work.

10. Yea, but that isn't the point. No one should be able to open mail
without a warrant.

Is there a big tadoo over this somewhere.

They can listen to our phone conversations. They can read our mail. We have cameras watching us everywhere.

I really don't like this kind of thing.

11. If he does it ...

If he actually does it, that will grounds for impeachment ... along with illegal wire taps and all the other illegal things he has done. There are not enough commitees to investigate all of Bush's crimes.
