I just saw an ad on TV for CITCO which said
heating oil at 40% discount from your friends in Venezuela. Anyone in America that wants heating oil at a discount can get it from CITCO because we care. It was a thirty second spot.

1. Charity starts at home, in this case, it's the home of ...
... Hugo Chavez.

You might want to check the brimstone content of your heating oil. High sulfur makes for nasty emissions.

3. Joe Kennedy hasn't been in Congress for several years now
But he's spent the last few years heading up a non-profit called Citizen's Energy, which focuses on helping low-income people pay energy costs to heat their homes.

5. The ad said nothing about low income people.
It stated a 40% discount on heating fuel period..

6. His other ads have. On the other hand, I haven't heard the
actual 40% touted in those other ads. I heard it also this morning and thought this info needs to get out there. I didn't realize Joe Kennedy/Citizen's Energy was non-profit. Guess I didn't pay attention that close.

7. Every ad I has seen or heard for Citizen's Energy
has always mentioned the 40% discount, well at least the ads this year have. It is for low income and you must "qualify" to take part in the program. I am actually considering applying myself this year.

They allow you to purchase up to $300 worth of oil (that $300 is at the discount rate, so it's actually more oil than it sounds like if it were regular price) ONCE. No double dipping. One delivery, but for some of us, that might make all the difference for a winter as mild as this one has been. Saving that 40% even once is a help to those who need it.

8. My right-wing dad was all worked up about this.
I just can't figure out what's so upsetting to the right-wing about helping the poor. I guess they'd rather see people freeze to death. I said as much. Jeez, I guess no one should accept charity from anyone unless their political views get the right-wing seal of approval.

My dad has changed into someone I no longer recognize since he started watching that hateful bullshit propaganda at FOX. It's broken my heart.
