Is it naive to expect Democrats to be an "organized" Party?
And to be unanimous on every vote and every issue? Will Rogers once said he belonged to no organized political Party - he was a Democrat. But to read many posts on DU, one would think it heresy to disagree with the elected Democrats. As if to disagree will automatically put the Party back into the "minority". I am a Democrat that supports what Cindy Sheehan did yesterday and I believe we have to keep the Democrats feet to the fire or they will backslide like cheap-suited preachers...

1. The "disorganization" is part of what makes us democrats
Lock-stepping, toeing the line, authoritarian rule, those are hallmarks of the republic mindset. Hell, just look at the average republic senator's hair! Every strand looks like it was laid in place individually, in perfect placement, before being shellacked into place. They're anal.

2. If you agree that Democrats must represent a wide spectrum of opinions and
human experience, then yes - it's naive to expect the party to be "organized" in the same way that a fear-based, market-driven, propagandizing, us-vs-them outfit of fascists can be organized.

As long as the media are market-controlled, the Republicans will be able to buy the consensus they need.
